The detail

A stylish and environmentally-friendly cottage situated in Southeast Portland, right in the heart of the historic Ladd’s Addition neighbourhood. The area is made up of zig-zagging streets surrounding four beautiful rose gardens, all lined by endless Elm trees. It has so much natural charm it is all too easy to imagine you’re miles away from bustling city life – rather than just a short step away. PDX Eco cottage, a split-level vacation home, is the perfect, relaxing retreat in one of the most exciting areas of Portland.

Tucked away among the luscious green of the area, the 2013-built cottage is located on the South Rose Garden and was built to reduce non-renewable energy usage and to increase water and resource efficiency. Decorated in true style, the lower floor is open plan with heated floors. It boasts a sleek kitchen complete with the most modern appliances, as well as a retro-style Smeg fridge! There are dining facilities for four and with a bright colour scheme the cottage has a fun feel whilst still giving off a cool and relaxing vibe.

The living room is decked out with comfy, mismatched furnishings, adding to the trendy and exciting nature of the place. The sliding glass doors and the large skylight make the room bright and welcoming. There are even additional sleeping accommodations in the living room if you have any extra guests!

On the upper level, the queen-size bed sits under another skylight, offering you views into the night sky. There is plenty of storage space with a large closet and dresser. The bathroom, decorated in cool blues and illuminated by yet another skylight, is complete with shower area, WC and wash basin. The outdoor patio area is bursting with bright, colourful flowers and comes with retro-style table and chairs and a privacy screen.

Ladd’s Addition, a beautiful, historic area, is a prime location for delicious restaurants, funky bars and unique coffee shops. It is a cultural hub, with lots of small, independent businesses offering delicious delicacies. The cottage is located right by Division St, which had gained popularity for its exciting restaurant row, and the bars of nearby Clinton Street only further cement this part of Portland’s reputation as a funky, progressive area. The cottage is also only a block and half away from public transport facilities and a short stroll over the Willamette River takes you into the heart of downtown Portland! In such a fun-filled and exciting area, PDX Eco Cottage is a truly charming place to call home for a while.
