Set in the historic clifftop city of Orvieto in Umbria, Italy, this grand palazzo offers guests a glimpse of 3,000 years of history. The four-storey Palazzo Misciattelli has original features from the Renaissance and Medieval periods on display and sits above underground cantinas and tunnels that date back to Etruscan times. Still owned by an ancient aristocratic Italian family, three residences within the palazzo are now available to guests, each with opulent interiors and access to a roof terrace, private gardens, sauna, plunge pool and gym. Just a few minutes' stroll to the stunning Duomo and the city centre, spend your days exploring the winding streets of Orvieto or at the owner’s countryside properties where you can explore the vineyards, truffle forests and olive groves.
The apartments are all located on the second floor which can be accessed via a lift with beautiful views over the city and the surrounding Umbrian countryside. The largest of the three apartments is the Ripalta Residence which has two bedrooms and two private terraces overlooking the gardens, city and out to the surrounding hills. Both of the bedrooms are doubles, one with a king size bed and both have ensuites with luxurious Ortigia toiletries, rain showers and fluffy towels waiting for you. There’s a bright and spacious open plan kitchen and dining area and a relaxing living space with a big comfy sofa where you can put your feet up after a day exploring the city.
The Aldegonda Residence is a one bedroom apartment, perfect for couples with beautiful views over the rooftops of Orvieto from the Juliet balcony. There’s a luxurious king size bed in the bedroom, complete with Egyptian cotton sheets and bathrobes and slippers. There’s an ensuite bathroom with toiletries, towels and a washing machine and dryer. The large open-plan living space features a comfy living area across from a contemporary kitchen with an island for dining.
The Osa Residence also has one bedroom and views over the garden and a beautiful 1,000 year old church. The living area has a big comfy sofa, the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring Orvieto. The contemporary kitchen area is sectioned off from this living space by an island with bar stools where you can enjoy your complimentary continental breakfast. The bedroom features a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with robes, slippers, towels and toiletries all waiting for you.
There are plenty of things to do and see in the area and lots of experiences offered to guests of Palazzo Misciattelli. The region is famed for its truffles and wine and you can head out into the owner’s private forest reserve to go truffle foraging with a hunter and his dogs. Follow this up with a wine tasting in the vineyard or capture the scenery with an art lesson with a professional artist. Learn to make pasta from scratch or get involved with the annual olive oil and grape harvest.
