The details

Perched on stilts above the shimmering waters of Loch Tay, The Oyster Lodge is a secluded, glass-fronted boathouse that feels wonderfully removed from the everyday. With uninterrupted views across the loch to the surrounding mountains, a private hot tub bubbling on the deck and a barrel sauna waiting to warm you after wild swims, this is Highland escapism at its most magical.

Inside, the lodge is fully underfloor heated, meaning you’ll stay wonderfully warm whatever the season. On cooler evenings, light the log burning stove, pour a glass of wine and watch the light fade over the water through the vast glass frontage. The open-plan living space is beautifully finished, with a sleek white Corian worktop and Neff appliances in the kitchen, making it a joy to cook up lazy breakfasts or hearty suppers after a day outdoors. A utility room with washing machine and tumble drier adds extra practicality for longer stays.

When eyes grow weary, there are two king size ensuite bedrooms, each dressed in crisp white Egyptian cotton linen with White Company throws and even swiss chocolates on the pillows. Settle in for a perfect night's sleep thanks to the comfort of the bed and the peacefulness of your lochside surroundings. Large bath sheets, gowns, hand towels and bath mats are provided, alongside luxury hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, so you can pack light and settle straight into holiday mode. With natural spring water, thoughtful welcome supplies and snug touches throughout, everything here has been carefully considered.

Step outside and you’re right on the loch frontage, with fishing rights for trout from the shore. Spend mornings wrapped in a gown with coffee in hand as ducks paddle past, or evenings sinking into the hot tub as the sky turns pink over the hills. Roe deer, red squirrels and abundant birdlife all make regular appearances, adding to the sense that you’re staying somewhere truly special.

Just two miles away, the charming village of Kenmore offers inviting pubs and restaurants, while the wider Loch Tay area is packed with adventure. From mountain biking, canoeing and sailing to canyoning, zip lining and scenic hikes through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, there’s no shortage of ways to explore this spectacular corner of Scotland.

Beautiful situation and well equipped place, we loved our stay. It was so quiet that we completely relaxed, saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed the hot tub whatever the weather!
