High on the clifftops, with a large lawn stretching down to the cliff edge and leading to magnificent views across Plymouth Sound, this former signal house has a unique and romantic location in a beautiful part of Cornwall. The views will have guests struggling to leave the cottage, but if you do you have the chance to explore this pretty and historic area.
Sit out on the decking area and while-away hours watching the impressive array of ships, boats and even submarines which use this busy stretch of water. There is plenty for nature lovers too - the Cornwall Wildlife Trust Reserve of Penlee Battery is just above the property and seals, dolphins and a huge number of bird species can be spotted.
This picturesque white-washed cottage is one of three which occupy the stretch on the clifftop. Inside it is cosy, yet bright, and has been decorated in tasteful, muted tones and furnished with modern fittings. A good-sized, well-equipped kitchen has a large, range-style oven, and views from the window stretch down to the sea.
Meals can be enjoyed at the large wooden table in the dining area which has a useful wood burner, ideal for cosy suppers in. On milder evenings, guests will want to take advantage of the great views and eat outside on a private patio area towards the front of the cottage. Or, perhaps head up to the roof terrace as the sun sets on another wonderful day of exploration and relaxation.
There are three bedrooms with en suites, two doubles and one bunk room, all with comfy beds which, combined with the peaceful location, ensure a restful sleep. The cottage has one family bathroom with a bath and shower above the bath.
The area has plenty for everyone to enjoy. Surfers, sandcastle builder's and rockpool explorers will love nearby Whitesand Bay with three miles of golden sand, pounding surf and an abundance of huge boulders for climbing over and jumping off. A pretty walk around the coast brings guests to the adjoined villages of Kingsand and Cawsand which have shops and great pubs including The Devonport and The Halfway House which sits directly on the border of Devon and Cornwall. Both pubs are great for eating out and often have locally caught fresh fish and seafood.
