This fabulous heritage property offers luxury accommodation for large groups and, boasting 15 acres of lovely gardens, it makes a beautiful location for family and friends to get together.
Located in the pretty village of Shorwell, on the Isle of Wight, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the house is near some of the island's loveliest beaches - if you can drag yourself away from Northcourt, that is.
Northcourt House forms the north wing of the manor house, which is a splendid example of classic Jacobean architecture. From the moment you step through the imposing entrance way, the light, space, style and grandeur will impress and inspire. High ceilings, large ornate windows and an abundance of period features make this a unique place to make memories. The grandeur is beautifully offset by stylish and comfortable furnishings, which guarantee a comfortable and relaxing stay. Step into the impressive entrance hall and take time to greet your friends and family in the large sitting area, with big comfy sofas surrounding a wood burning fire.
Continue catching up in the kitchen, which is fully-equipped with everything you could possibly need to whip up a meal for 20, including an oven and two dishwashers. Two large wooden dining tables offer lots of space for leisurely breakfasts and the views from the window show off the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
Of course, special occasions demand something a little extra and the formal dining room certainly offers that. The double-vaulted music room has a fabulous parquet floor, a dining table to seat 40+ and a grand piano, just add food and drink! Patio doors lead out onto a terrace, complete with outdoor dining furniture, a lovely spot for lunch in the sunshine.
The big, airy bedrooms all have double or twin beds and most have en-suite bathrooms which boast roll-top baths and rainfall showers. They are decorated in a period style successfully combining the modern with the authentic, so guests enjoy the romance of the period without compromising on comfort and convenience.
Little Northcourt can also be rented for extra large groups, allowing for an added 16 people to join you on your stay. Originally built as the servant quarters, this building was remodelled in 1905 and was recently modernised in 2010. This property offers yet more comfy, quality self-catered accommodation across seven bedrooms. There’s also space for more extra adults to stay in the east wing of the building.
Outdoors, a three acre paddock, when not inhabited by farm animals, is a fabulous space for taking festivities outside, whether barbecues, picnics or a family game of rounders, there's plenty to do here.
The nearby village of Shorwell, a five minute stroll away, has a quintessentially English pub, The Crown, a village shop and a pretty church. You are also perfectly located for exploring the rest of the island, as you can drive anywhere in just 35 minutes.
