The detail

Expertly designed and lovingly decorated by renowned interior designer Rita Konig, this chic farmhouse in Teesdale truly is a one-of-a-kind property, and has been featured in House & Garden, Elle Decor, the Telegraph, Country Life and Conde Nast Traveller to name a few. Comfortably accommodating parties up to 14, North Farm is the perfect place for extended families or friends to celebrate a special occasion in style and acts as a great base to explore the Durham and Yorkshire Dales - with fantastic walks through the countryside right on your doorstep.

The interior is trendy and tasteful, perfectly blending classic and modern styles. Every detail has been carefully thought out, from the designer furniture and vintage décor to the quirky artwork and vibrant wallpaper.

The ground floor has an impressive entrance hall and three living areas for guests to socialise and relax. A lovely spot for pre-dinner drinks is the south-facing drawing room, beautifully furnished with comfy sofas and armchairs that are topped with colourful fabrics and soft Turkish cushions. The cosy library and TV room has well filled bookcases, a 50-inch smart TV and lots of seating, perfect for movie nights or curling up by the fireplace with a good read. Children will love the playroom, which is kitted out with beanbags, a games console and smart TV (it also has a daybed and doubles up as an extra bedroom if needed).

Keen chefs will relish the chance to prepare food in the large, traditional kitchen, fitted with an AGA oven, modern appliances and a selection of cookbooks for inspiration. There’s also a pantry stocked with essentials and scullery for washing up. When dinner is served, guests can eat at the 19th century Italian dining table and enjoy the views of the peaceful surroundings out of the large windows.

Upstairs you’ll find all seven bedrooms (two with super-king size beds, one king, one standard double, and three twins - incl two zip and link optional doubles) each stylishly decorated and wonderfully unique. All five bathrooms are also found here, with fluffy towels and toiletries provided in each.

Outside the property is a gorgeous walled garden and patio with outdoor furniture, a barbecue and views across the Dales. If you fancy some friendly rivalry or want to keep the kids occupied, the stone barn is the place to be, transformed into a games room with pool and table tennis tables.

The property is surrounded by the idyllic Teesdale countryside. The most southerly of the Durham Dales, Teesdale boasts outstanding scenery and countless walking trails waiting to be explored. It’s also home to the market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle, the latter famous for its wonderful Bowes Museum - well worth a visit.

Also nearby is the medieval city of Durham, with one of the finest cathedrals in Europe, as well as Raby Castle, the newly renovated Auckland Castle, and the spectacular High Force waterfall. The Lake District is an hour away to the west, the seaside resort of Saltburn 40 minutes east, popular for surfing and blowy walks along the spectacular clifftop Cleveland Way.
