The details
These gorgeous handmade timber pods are hidden away in a secluded rocky bay on Scotland's beautiful west coast and are perfect for couples, friends or a small families wanting to enjoy some glorious adventures off the beaten track of the North Coast 500.
Each pod is less like a camping experience and more like a very nice little hotel. Fully insulated with underfloor heating, it's a cosy place to stay even in chillier weather. There's a deluxe double bed with crisp linens to ensure a peaceful night's sleep and a large corner sofa that unfolds to provide an additional double bed for two more people if required. The space is well designed with the bed tucked away to make the interior feel spacious and comfortable.
There's a fully equipped kitchenette where you can whip up a hearty breakfast and that all important first cup of coffee which you can enjoy at the fold out dining table, or outside in the fresh air. The timber walls and wooden fittings make these pods feel rustic but modern and they are extremely cosy. A window above the kitchenette allows light to flood the space.
The ensuite has a toilet, sink and shower, everything you could need to get ready for a day of beautiful walks along the coastline.
When you step outside you'll find a fabulous communal area with top of the range BBQ's where you can rustle up some local fare and laze away an afternoon or evening. You'll be a very snappy two minutes from one of the west coast's most stunning beaches. Achmelvich Bay has fine white sands and turquoise water where you can swim, kayak, fish, water ski or simply build a sand castle. And when the sun sets you can build a bonfire and crack open a bottle with friends as the stars twinkle up above. It's a truly magical place that once visited becomes a holiday staple for many.
Achmelvich is surrounded by beautiful rugged countryside which makes for wonderful walks. As well as peaceful fishing spots, you'll find scenic hill walking trails and local activities which include a golf course, Hermits Castle and Ardverck Castle, definitely worth a visit.
There's a charming country store next to the beach where you can stock up on provisions but if you're happy to drive around three miles to Lochinver, you'll find a large grocery store, petrol station and some fabulous pubs and restaurants. And after a day of adventuring you can return to your plush idyll by the sea and fire up a BBQ as the beers chill.
