Are you a fan of the recent TV series The Durrells? Well welcome to the real deal. Corfu really is that beautiful, and here at Mulberry House, you’ve found the perfect place to explore the island. This spacious and private, fully renovated stone house nestles on the edge of the hamlet of Rou in the hills above the North East coast of Corfu. With unparalleled views across the Corfu channel to Albania and the Greek mainland, Mulberry offers unique, luxury accommodation for couples seeking the authentic Greece and some traditional Corfiot hospitality.
Mulberry House is named after the ancient mulberry tree on the driveway and has been lovingly restored. Enjoy the glorious sunshine on one of the extensive terraces, cool off in the private infinity pool, or sit under any number of olive and almond trees as the scent of lavender and rosemary wafts by.
The house itself features a large lounge with French doors onto a balcony with glorious views across the Corfu channel to Albania beyond. The air conditioned bedroom has one super king size bed and a large en suite bathroom, plus its own access direct onto a stone terrace, ideal for sipping your morning coffee as the sun rises. You might even be serenaded to sleep by the scops owl sonata whilst watching fireflies dancing outside, or awake to a glorious sunrise over the Albanian mountains.
For the complete privacy of guests, Mulberry House is only ever let out on an exclusive per booking basis to couples. However should you wish to have friends or family join you for some or all of your holiday the adjoining one-bedroom Mulberry Cottage can be opened up.
An hour from Corfu airport and 45 minutes from the Venetian ramparts of UNESCO heritage site Old Corfu Town, Mulberry House nestles on the edge of the once abandoned hamlet of Rou, under the protective embrace of Corfu’s highest peak, Mount Pantaktratur in the north-east of the island. Walking, painting, exploring nearby villages or just chilling out on the terraces, whatever your plans you can bask in the ever changing light reflected from the mountains of Albania and the Greek mainland, accompanied by the song of the cicadas and watched over by eagles circling overhead.
A short walk away is the traditional mountain village of Porta with a locals’ café to enjoy. Just 20 minutes in the car and you're at the coast and free to enjoy some of Corfu’s finest restaurants, beaches and coves. There are also many great walks from your front door to heritage villages like Megoulas and Old Perithia, that criss-cross the famous Corfu Trail.
