On the southern fringe of the Scottish Highlands, just a few miles from Callander – the Gateway to the Highlands – Muir Estate unfolds across 188 acres of private woodland, grazing pasture and lochside beauty. Here you can wake to birdsong, wander through Christmas tree plantations and ancient woods, and end your day beneath vast Highland skies in the wood burning hot tub. Despite being close to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, it feels blissfully secluded – a true escape from the rush of modern life.
Sleeping 12 to 14 adults plus two infants across six bedrooms and six bathrooms, the Lodge and Bothy together offer generous, flexible space for families and friends to gather. Designed by Swedish architect Märtha Wachtmeister, the Lodge blends Scottish vernacular style with a calming Scandinavian twist. Timber framing, a stone façade and slate roof give it a classic Highland feel, while inside the open plan layout is flooded with natural light through Danish double glazed windows.
The heart of the home is the expansive kitchen, dining and casual lounge space, where a log burner crackles and a range-style cooker with seven ring gas hob stands ready for celebratory suppers. With two large ovens, an American style fridge freezer, Le Creuset pans and every thoughtful extra provided, cooking for a crowd feels effortless. Upstairs, a lavish lounge with forest green and mustard velvet sofas invites you to curl up by the fire and gaze out at the trees.
Four super-king size bedrooms and one king size bedroom in the Lodge offer flexibility, with all five beds able to split into singles if required. The master suite is a showstopper, with glass gable end views towards the deer and stags, a slipper bath, walk-in shower and twin basins. The sixth bedroom is located in the attached Bothy, where a king size bed and ensuite shower room provide a peaceful, private retreat. In the upstairs lounge, two single sofa beds offer additional sleeping space if needed, and two cots are available for infants.

If you are looking for the perfect get away then this is the place , from the location to the friendliest welcome you know from the start it’s going to be a great stay . The accommodation was fantastic ,great facilities, the scenic surroundings, relaxing in a hot tub before our hosts made the most delicious meal all from locally sourced ingredients. We found the beds so comfortable and the roaring log fires so atmospheric with the panoramic views from the large windows adding to the cosy feeling watching the snow drifting down from the hills .In all the places we have visited Alick and Clare have to be the best hosts we have had , so welcoming, friendly, there wasn’t anything that was a problem. We will definitely go back here and would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone we rate it 10 out 10 . One of the best stay’s ever and can’t thank Clare and Alick enough
