The detail

Sleeping between twelve and fifteen guests, the Muir Estate is a truly marvellous property. From the Scots stone and Scandinavian open plan layout to the Danish Dinesen Douglas Fir flooring, the interiors of both the Lodge and Bothy are designed with traditional Scottish and Nordic architecture in mind. Embedded amongst an impressive 188 acres of land, guests can wonder at the beauty of the Scottish wildlife whilst sipping a cup of coffee on the patio. With a hot tub, luxurious beds, and sophisticated interiors, the Muir Estate offers the perfect opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The Lodge hosts five bedrooms, sleeping between ten and eleven with a super king/twin and a single bed sofa, two super kings/twin, one dedicated twin, and one king/twin. The property is fully equipped with sliding floor to ceiling windows, welcoming in light to enhance the rustic Scandinavian décor. The kitchen boasts a range-style cooker and a log-burning fire perfect for entertaining guests, though a private dining experience can be provided by Chef & Shepherd Suppers for special occasions. For larger parties, the Bothy can additionally be rented, sleeping between two and four with a king-sized room and a double sofa bed located in the lounge. Equipped with a log burning stove, a kitchen and a lounge, the Bothy is attached to the Lodge by a covered walkway so that guests can easily flit between the two.

From Doune Castle to the Deanston Distillery, the Thornhill, Stirlingshire area is full of bounty. Children will delight at a trip to the Alpaca Trekking Centre, an afternoon spent swinging from the trees at Go Ape, or an adrenaline-inducing outing on the river at Action Adventure Activities. Stirling Castle is a slice of essential Scottish history, and the Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve is a stunning spot for a day spent birdwatching, walking, or enjoying a soothing hot chocolate at The Woodhouse Café. Loch Lomond, Callander, and the Trossachs are minutes away, and should the big cities sound tempting, Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth are all accessible by car.
