You should know

• It is highly recommended to hire a car during your stay as Kefalonia is one of the largest Greek islands with plenty to explore nearby. There is parking for two cars at the property.

Set on a historic estate on the beautiful Ionian island of Kefalonia, Millstone Villa provides the perfect blend of luxury, tranquility and natural beauty for a relaxing holiday with friends and family. Start the day with a refreshing swim in the private pool before heading out to explore the island, perhaps chartering (at an additional fee) the skippered, beautiful sleek villa motor-cruiser and swim or snorkel in secluded beaches where no one but the birds can disturb you! Or head out and try tasting wine at the local vineyards.

Return to your peaceful hideaway and unwind surrounded by enchanting olive groves and with spectacular views out to sea. The estate is also home to a 19th century Olive Mill, complete with rare hand-sculpted milling stones made out of local white marble, after which the villa is named. You'll be able to enjoy a memorable dinner at the old Olive Mill while learning about its history.

Inside the villa, you'll find plenty of space for up to 10 guests to comfortably relax in the large living areas and beautifully furnished bedrooms. On the ground floor, there's a an open-plan dining and living area, the perfect spot to socialise in the evenings or to find a cool spot to relax during the hot summer days. The fully equipped kitchen provides everything you need to cook delicious meals using fresh local ingredients, or there's a private chef available to hire for special occasions. There are also two bedrooms on this floor, a twin with an ensuite and direct access out onto the terrace and pool, and a spacious double room.

Head up to the first floor to find the main bedroom with its sumptuous king size bed and private balcony offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and sea. There's also a twin room with its own smaller balcony and a bathroom with a pretty mosaic shower. The final bedroom is located on the lower ground floor which has a private entrance, twin beds and an ensuite bathroom. It also has its own small outdoor sitting area, the perfect spot to have a quiet cup of coffee in the morning. All of the twin rooms can be converted into doubles if you prefer, offering plenty of flexibility for groups.

Outside, there's lots of space to relax and soak up the sunshine, the peace and quiet, and the stunning views. Eat out on the terrace at the dining table under a bit of shade or relax in the lounging area with its comfy outdoor sofas. Step down to the lower level to the pool with sun loungers and umbrellas where you can while away a sunny afternoon, taking refreshing dips to cool off from the Mediterranean heat.

There's plenty of exploring to do on the island and a rich history to discover. Go on a tour of the island by boat to get your bearings and visit secluded beaches and coves inaccessible by road. Visit the local vineyards for tours and tastings and to learn about the island's winemaking traditions that date back thousands of years. Go for a scenic hike to the summit of Mount Ainos, the island's highest peak, and be rewarded with breathtaking views. Or simply relax by the pool back at the villa, enjoying the tranquility and beautiful surroundings of the Migliaressis Estate.
