This pair of charming barns sit in the idyllic Lyvennet Valley in Cumbria, offering a fab base for a relaxing break with friends and family. Each barn sleeps up to six guests and the pair can be booked together to cater for groups of up to 12.
Both Moon and Dove barns began life in the early 1600s as Westmoreland stone barn. This barn was still in use up to the 1960s, before becoming virtually derelict after years of neglect. However, in 2019, the new owners began a complete restoration project to convert this historic listed building into two luxury self-catered holiday homes set within a conservation area.
The two barns have a superb location, tucked away between the Lake District and Westmorland Dales National Parks, with easy access to Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
Each barn has a bright, airy interior, with big windows that offer lovely views of the surrounding scenery. Open-plan living spaces ensure you can socialise in style, whilst modern kitchens make meal prep a breeze. Add to this the cosy wood-burners, keeping you toasty and warm whatever the weather outside, and you’ve got your perfect rural retreat.
Moon Barn is a beautifully converted granary that blends rustic charm with laid-back luxury. Set over two spacious storeys, this calming countryside escape offers three stylish bedrooms - two with indulgent king size beds, and a third with twin beds that can be transformed into a super-king to suit your group.
Next door, Dove Barn occupies the northern edge of the estate and boasts some of the best views around - sweeping across the Lake District’s dramatic eastern fells, from the towering High Street ridge to the iconic peak of Blencathra. Inside, three serene bedrooms - each with a sumptuous king size bed – make it the perfect retreat for couples or families looking to relax in comfort and style.
Both barns sleep six guests and are ideal for unwinding after long days of walking, wild swimming or simply soaking up the scenery. They also share a large orchard, which has also been lovingly recreated during the restoration, but for added privacy, each barn has its own patio where you can unwind in the summer sunshine with your loved ones.
Whether you're here for adventure or a slower pace, these thoughtfully designed stays offer a slice of rural luxury in one of the UK's most breathtaking landscapes. And, if you decide to head out and see what the local area has to offer, you won’t be disappointed.
Whether you're up for a scenic stroll, a bracing trail run or a long ride through the hills, the opportunities are endless. There’s no need to jump in the car – the countryside is yours from the moment you open the door. Looking for something off the beaten path? The owners are always happy to share their favourite local nooks and secret spots – the kind only locals know – to help make your stay truly unforgettable.
