Tucked away in the rolling Carrick Hills near Ayr, Magical Boltholes is home to two stunning holiday cottages – Firth View 1 and 2 – where luxury meets wild Scottish beauty. Just four miles from the heart of Ayr, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this peaceful spot offers an array of amazing sea views, open skies and countryside calm.
Perched above the South West coast, both cottages boast panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran – and on clear days, all the way to Northern Ireland. Turn off the scenic coast road onto a private drive, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by grazing sheep, curious cows and the soothing sounds of nature. Then, step inside your beautifully designed home-from-home, where you’ll find spacious open-plan living areas, thoughtful design touches and wood-fired hot tubs for the ultimate in coastal relaxation.
First up is Firth View 1, which sleeps four guests. This is a modern, nature-inspired retreat where earthy tones, lush greens and rustic textures create a calming, outdoorsy feel. The open-plan living space is bright and airy and offers a great spot for you to unwind with your nearest and dearest in style. The sleek kitchen is ideal for whipping up a feast and there’s a pool table, Smart TV and superfast WiFi for entertainment. When night falls, the two ensuite bedrooms - one with a super-king bed and the other with twins that can also be arranged as a super-king - promise luxury beds and restful nights. In the morning take your first coffee of the day on the sea-facing patio, where you’ll also find your private wood-fired hot tub.
Up next is Firth View 2, which also sleeps up to four guests. This equally charming space channels a breezy beach house atmosphere with nautical blues, whites and charming coastal details. There’s a master ensuite bedroom with a super-king bed, a second twin that can be arranged as a super-king and an extra bathroom for convenience. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, then step outside to the enclosed garden with alfresco dining and a dreamy hot tub with sea views. There’s even a foosball table for fun nights in.
Both cottages also have BBQs out on their private patios, so you can spend a sunny afternoon grilling up some delicious local produce before dining together in the fresh country air.
If you venture out and explore the area you can discover a mix of coastal charm and countryside adventure in Ayr and its surroundings. Stroll along Ayr’s sandy beach, visit the historic Burns Cottage or visit the romantic ruins of Dunure Castle. Golf lovers can tee off at world-class courses like Royal Troon and Turnberry. Hike or cycle the Carrick Hills for sweeping views, or enjoy woodland walks in Rozelle and Belleisle Parks. Local farm shops, whisky distilleries and charming villages offer a true taste of rural Ayrshire.
