Lydia is one of three beautiful accommodations situated in a large barn conversion, with this cosy bolthole nestled on the top floor with wonderful views. It would be ideal for a couple or a solo traveller wanting to soak up the tranquil environment and explore all that Northumberland has to offer.
The interior is open plan and very welcoming with a slanted ceiling creating a contemporary space with plenty of rustic charm. Sky lights allow the natural light to flood into this lovely living area with its big comfy sofa, large rug and perfect little chunky wooden dining table for two.
The kitchen area is convenient and modern with a full sized hob and oven, dishwasher, washer dryer and fridge freezer and comes fully equipped with everything you could need to whip up a delicious meal whilst liberally sipping wine.
A subtle room divider at the other end of the space houses a very cosy double bed with luxurious linens and fluffy pillows where you can drift off to sleep gazing at the stars through the window.
There's a separate bathroom with WC, sink and shower, perfect for blasting yourself awake in the morning before you enjoy that first cup of coffee and make plans for the day. To make things even simpler the hosts can provide breakfasts pack upon request.
If it's a lovely day why not take your coffee outside and head down the stairs where you'll find a picture perfect garden area with an enviable view of the endless rolling green of the countryside.
Lydia is the perfect base from which to explore Northumberland. Nature lovers will be beguiled by the stunning surroundings. Walk around the Cheviots, a range of hills that are majestic to behold. Head over to the International Dark Sky Park and be mesmerised by the Linhope Spout, a stunning waterfall. Hedgeley Ponds are perfect for picnics and if castles are your thing, you're in for a treat because Northumberland is home to more castles than any other county in England.
In Alnwick town centre you'll find great fish and chips at Carlo's, or if you fancy something a bit more elegant, Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel offers fine dining and fireplaces in a refined setting.
There's a wonderful independent bookshop, Barter Books, that's quite unique and offers tea and biscuits whilst you browse and the hosts highly recommend you see it for yourself. Whatever you do with your days, the cosy haven of 'Lydia' will be there when you get back ready for a night cap and some star gazing.
