The converted Long Barrow stables are your peaceful, relaxing, luxury bolthole from the modern world, set in the heart of beautiful, historic Wiltshire. Humans have lived here for tens of thousands of years, and the working farm sits within the Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore ancient, neolithic sites by day, and unwind in modern luxury by night.
The Long Barrow is cosy and compact, and the vaulted ceiling and exposed beams create an inviting and relaxing space to unwind and recharge. The light and airy decor makes the space feel comforting and homely, and the modern touches leave you wanting for nothing.
After a long day exploring the wilds of Wiltshire, retreat to your bolthole and use the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare a sumptuous dinner with high-quality products directly from the farm including charcuterie and joints of meat, cooked in rapeseed oil made on site. In the morning there’s nothing like tucking into Avebury Farm sausages, eggs and bacon, all washed down with hot coffee from the machine.
In the summer months, relax on the patio with a snack and a drink as the sun goes down over rolling hills, punctuated only with the sounds of the farm animals and the leaves in the trees. Prepare food alfresco on the supplied BBQ and light the fire pit to create a calming atmosphere. Kids can play in the orchard playground while the grownups sit back and unwind. During the winter, curl up on the large, plush sofa and reconnect with family and friends with games, books or a movie night on the smart TV.
Perfect for families, the Long Barrow features two bedrooms, and when the night draws in, climb the stairs to the king size bed on the mezzanine. Fill a bath in the ensuite and soak away the stresses of the day, or drift off under luxury bedding while the kids are tucked up in the twin room. Awake with the dawn chorus and refresh in the downstairs ensuite shower room before heading off to explore Wiltshire.
Explore the idyllic North Wessex Downs AONB on foot or via mountain bike to really take in the beauty of the area, and Summit nearby Tan Hill for outstanding views. The village of Avebury and the towns of Devizes, Calne and Wroughton offer a taste of authentic Wiltshire living, while Swindon and Bath are close for a day trip. Back on the farm, book one of our baking classes, send the kids on a tractor ride around the farm, enjoy a farm picnic on us, hire a table tennis table, or get your eye in with clay pigeon shooting lessons at the nearby Barbury Shooting School.
