The Detail...
The Lewis Longhouse is a truly modern take on a traditional island home that sits in its surroundings like a piece of artwork. Inside this home you will find a charming haven where you can relax and unwind in peace and tranquility. This ultra modern living space is wonderful for families looking to escape to the Scottish Outer Hebrides or couples after a remote romantic getaway. Just above the east coast on the Isle of Lewis, this incredibly comfortable house is at the forefront of contemporary design and is beautiful in all aspects, from the subtle pastel colour scheme to the open plan layout and the lovingly arranged decor.
The house has it all. Downstairs there are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master-suite has a Super Kingsize bed and a wet-room style en-suite shower room for maximum luxury. The 2nd bedroom can be Super Kingsize or twin. Then you have the giant open plan living/kitchen/dining area that is bright and airy, thanks to its giant windows and double height ceiling. Upstairs is a quiet relaxing living space with its own little surprise balcony and a study space.
You’ll feel the urge to flex your culinary muscles once you step into the fabulous kitchen that is kitted out with everything you’d need. Make sure you buy some local shellfish from the fish shop - it really is the best that this country has to offer - and you simply must try the Stornoway Black Pudding! Cook up a storm and dine on the kitchen worktop that was made by local craftsmen out of beech trees that were felled by winter storms on the grounds of Lewis Castle.
The underfloor heating and multi-fuel stove to keep toasty and warm in winter, and when the evenings are warm glide open the glass doors and sit on the wraparound deck soaking in the views with a glass of wine. If you're lucky you may even spot the Northern Lights!
The Lewis Longhouse is perfectly situated to offer you unlimited access to the natural wonder that is on offer on the island. Step outside and stroll along the empty beach enjoying the island’s coastline listening to the mesmerising sound of nothing but the waves. Or head inland to the picturesque moors and witness all of the wildlife and beautiful, rugged scenery. History buffs may want to see some of the many archaeological sites that Lewis has to offer including the Callanish Stones.
