There are few more romantic retreats than Leannan Boathouse; a former boat house that has been lovingly restored to become a luxurious and relaxing Scottish getaway. This charming escape is part of Forbes of Kingennie Lodges and dates back to 1855.
Sitting right on the water's edge and surrounded by woodland and fishing ponds, this holiday home for 2 people boasts tranquillity and serenity. Inside the boathouse contemporary design and modern touches have been introduced sympathetically so as to not take away from the building's history. The living area has stone clad walls while maintaining its warmth and cosy atmosphere, with a sofa to curl up on in the evening in front of the TV. A fully equipped, bespoke kitchen - with oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washing machine - has been carefully designed to offer a modern setup while tying in with the traditions of the Leannan Boathouse.
The master bedroom comes with all the elements of luxury to make the stay that little bit better. A king size bed has a body shape moulding mattress, which coupled with the peace and quiet of the surroundings makes for a truly fantastic night's sleep. This leads off to the en-suite bathroom complete with double hot tub style bath and finished to an extremely high standard.
There are 2 balconies as part of the boathouse, the first of which leads from the master bedroom and offers stunning views as well as being the perfect spot for a romantic meal or evening drinks. French doors also lead off the bedroom to a south facing deck, meaning light floods into the room and gives access to more outside space.
Despite its seemingly remote location, Leannan Boathouse is actually only 5 miles from the city of Dundee. This compact gem is brimming with cobbled lanes and hidden courtyards to discover, with a treasure trove of museums, cafes, shops, and more in this historic city. Yet if guests are hoping to escape the hustle and bustle then the Angus countryside is right on the doorstep with its beautiful setting and plethora of walking trails.
