Get to know the naturally beautiful Suffolk coast at this delightful period cottage that combines cosy comfort with a great location.
Near pretty Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast, Laundry Cottage is a charming, dog-friendly place, perfect for discovering this lovely corner of eastern England. Adjoining a private nature reserve which guests can enjoy to the full, this cottage accommodates up to five people in traditional style.
You enter the cottage via an enclosed courtyard with seating which is the ideal spot to enjoy coffee or breakfast. Then you will come to the farmhouse kitchen which features an open fireplace, a Victorian range and a variety of more modern appliances like a Bosch oven, dishwasher and microwave. Leaded windows and wooden beams add more old-school character, continuing into the cosy lounge with its large inglenook fireplace, wood-burner and 27-inch TV.
Hidden behind a door in the kitchen is the narrow stairway which leads you up to the master and twin bedrooms. The master’s magnificent oak four-poster bed is one of the highlights of this antique-filled cottage, and will make your stay even more romantic. From the Master bedroom there is a corridor leading to the bathroom and the twin bedroom, with its two brass single beds and vaulted ceiling.
For a fifth guest, a wonderful Breton bed - a cupboard-style affair built into the wall in the corridor and dating back to the 1700’s - this provides the perfect mix of comfy and quirky. It even has lighting and sliding doors you can close for extra privacy.
The private nature reserve, co-owned by the cottage’s owners and their neighbours, is a real treat for those who love to walk, including dogs. Mature oaks, pines and areas of heathland create a relaxing and peaceful environment. Among the other treats of Laundry Cottage, a welcome pack with fresh ingredients for a tasty English breakfast will be waiting for you on arrival.
The local area offers plenty to explore on foot or by bike, with the beautiful Tunstall Forest nearby, and lovely lakes down towards Aldeburgh, around seven minutes’ drive from the cottage. This small town has an independent cinema, plenty of cafés and restaurants and a pretty harbour, while the Snape Maltings arts centre a few miles west of Aldeburgh, serves as a local cultural centre, regularly hosting high-quality music and dance events.
