Take a coastal view of the Isle of Wight with a stay at this lighthouse, you'll find sea views, sandy beaches and plenty of places to explore.
St Catherine's Lighthouse is situated just outside the hamlet of Niton, approximately 10 minutes' drive from the popular coastal resort of Ventnor, the southernmost point of the Isle of Wight. The site comprises a terrace of three self catering, former lighthouse keepers’ cottages. This one, Landward Cottage, sleeps 4 and you’re sure to find it an excellent location from which to explore the Isle of Wight.
Inside you’ll find two bedrooms and one shower room. There’s a cosy living room with an electric effect wood burner, plus a TV, DVD, CD player and Wi-Fi. Should you need it a travel cot and a highchair are available upon request. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking up a storm, including an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, plus a washer/dryer for your clothes. Outside you’ll find a fully enclosed and private courtyard with a shared open grassed area. Parking is to the rear of your cottage.
Enjoy a gentle stroll to an excellent real ale pub, only a 10-minute walk up the hill from the house. There are guided tours of the lighthouse throughout the year (subject to availability). If you would like to view the lighthouse during your stay please telephone 01983 730435 to book your place.
You’re within easy reach of several beaches, including Ventnor beach, Shanklin beach, Freshwater Bay and Sandown beach including the Battery Gardens. And there are plenty of places to explore on the island, including Carisbrooke Castle, Brading Roman Villa or Arreton Old Village. Take a stroll round the lovely Rosemary Vineyard, one of the largest producers of English Wine, or take a trip to the Isle of Wight Military History Museum. A great day for the whole family is Robin Hill Park and Gardens, the brilliant Isle of Wight Zoo as well as Seaview Wildlife Encounters.
