The detail

This beautifully renovated 18th-century farmhouse is situated in Elmley National Nature Reserve and provides a luxurious countryside escape for couples or large groups. You can either rent one of the beautiful individual rooms, or book the entire property for one large group on a catered basis. You'll have the entire luxurious property to yourself, with a host and housekeeping staff on-hand to ensure you make the most of your stay.

Sleeping up to 14, all guests will feel at home straight away. The décor is contemporary and eclectic without losing the charm of the original farmhouse and each room has its own personality. There are four sumptuous bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a family suite on the top floor. The family suite features two bedrooms and a bathroom.

If you're just looking for one room for you and a loved one, then you'll be pleased to know that all five en suite rooms offer the intimacy and space of a stylish private house with the seclusion, comforts and delightful touches that make a beautiful boutique hotel stay.

There are spaces in this house to suit any occasion. The drawing room provides a grand setting for special occasions, while the library is the perfect spot to settle down with a board game or a book. There’s also a snug with a fireplace where you can find a little peace and quiet in the evenings. Step out into the beautiful gardens and enjoy a bit of alfresco dining or a cosy evening around the fire pit.

The beautiful kitchen opens out onto a dining space which is bathed in natural light thanks to an impressive skylight and floor-to-ceiling windows. But thanks to the on-site staff, you won't need to lift a finger when it comes to meals. The team will be able to prepare delicious meals for the duration of your stay.

Kingshill Farmhouse has access to the 3,300 acres of wilderness that make up Elmley Nature Reserve. The Reserve is a habitat for many different species of birds, plants, rare invertebrates and mammals. Catch a glimpse of birds of prey soaring overhead or hares leaping across the meadows. The ponds provide a home to many water birds and if you visit in the summer you might be lucky enough to catch some of the chicks born in the spring tentatively taking to the skies for the first time.

If you want to venture further afield, the Isle of Sheppey is well worth exploring. You can be on Minster beach in just 15 minutes in the car. Head back to the mainland and spend an afternoon exploring the marvellous, historic city of Canterbury, the charming seaside town of Whitstable, or the fantastic Leeds Castle. Or why not take in the spectacular views along Saxon Shore Way?

We stayed at the Kingshill Farmhouse on the Elmley Nature Reserve in early December 2019. The farmhouse has been recently renovated and it was a superb choice for a big family party (ten adults and four children) spread over a long weekend. Even in the house we never felt cramped and of course there is a fantastic area for walking that really is on your doorstep. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped for self-catering (three ovens, two dishwashers!), there were three sitting rooms for people who wanted to do their own thing, a dining room that would seat twelve, and stunning bedrooms with luxurious bathrooms en-suite. We were all impressed by the attention to styling and detail and the owners had paid. We were unable to find fault with this wonderful place.
