The Details
This marvellous tranquil retreat is tucked away in a peaceful and secluded wood. Completely private, the cabin was built by hand and sits on the edge of its very own lake. With no other guests and no neighbours in sight, it offers the ultimate escape into nature.
Begin your stay with a walk through the woods, with the rustling of leaves and the sound of the birds in your ears. Eventually, you’ll arrive at your personal pocket of peace - a sanctuary where the lake and the winding woodland trails are yours and yours alone.
Inside, the cabin has a calming, rustic atmosphere, with exposed wood everywhere and giant sliding glass doors that connect you to the scenery around you. These large windows also flood the space with natural light. In summer, slide them open and let the outside in, and come winter, close them up and stay toasty and warm, thanks to the underfloor heating, as you watch the rain fall on the lake, or enjoy a movie or your favourite TV show on the pull-down projector screen.
At night, the king size bed is super-comfy and you also have your own private wet-room for nice morning showers.
The cabin’s stylish kitchen is nicely equipped for whipping up delicious meals, which you can then enjoy on the beautiful, ornate glass dining table for two. You can also enjoy alfresco dinners, dining under the woodland canopy. Take in the stunning views of the lake while sharing a meal, completely immersed in the beauty of nature. There’s a BBQ outside too, should you wish to grill up some delicious local produce by the side of the lake.
On warm days, while away hours relaxing on your private lake-side deck, where you can snooze on the sun loungers, get lost in a good book, or watch the family of geese that nest on the lake.
You will also love your private outdoor wellness retreat. Soak in a deep, hand-hammered copper bathtub built for two. Let the heat of the traditional wooden sauna soothe you as birdsong fills the air, or cool off with a refreshing cold bucket dunk. In the evening, settle beside the lakeside fire pit, toasting marshmallows and gazing up at a sky full of stars.
If you choose to venture out and explore, you’re a short stroll from the charming, 300 year old village pub. You’re also nicely placed to make the most of foodie destination Malton. Taste freshly brewed beer, gin direct from the distillery, award-winning macarons and lots more. There's a monthly food market, two huge food festivals a year and a host of other delicious events.
For days out, the ancient city of York is within easy reach, with its medieval Shambles, independent shops, pubs, restaurants and exciting Viking history. Take afternoon tea at the famous Betty's tea rooms, dinner at the Michelin-starred Roots restaurant, or buy a fat rascal bun and head off on one of the city's many spooky ghost tours.
