You should know

• Breakfast and dinner packages need to be ordered in advance.
• Check-in is from 3pm and you need to make sure you arrive with enough time to reach the PurePod before dark.
• No smoking.
• Make sure you take your welcome guide instructions with you so you can find the PurePod location as these are tucked away for privacy. Using Google Maps is often unsuitable (as signal is limited) and you may travel on unmarked farm roads.
• Bring appropriate footwear and clothing for the nature walk to the PurePod.
• It is a 950m (15 minute) walk to Kahautara PurePod.

Enjoy your own private slice of the New Zealand countryside at the Kahutara PurePod, named because of its position looking out across the Kahutara river. Its exact location can only be discovered once a booking is made.

PurePods are luxurious glass cabins with sliding doors on three sides for guests to enjoy nature in all its glory at day, night, sunshine, rain and everything in between. The solar-panelled properties are environmentally sustainable from the ground up and are deliberately without wi-fi in order to enjoy peace and tranquillity.

The Kahutara PurePod is perched up high in isolation with stunning views across the Seaward Kaikoura mountain range. Although only 20 minutes from the town of Kaikoura, this getaway feels as if it is on its own in the world, with guests walking from the farmhouse, down the pathway, through the Kanuka trees and past the wetlands before reaching their private PurePod.

Inside there is a luxury bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom, with each overlooking the beautiful surroundings and the many plants and animals that inhabit the area. With the floor and ceiling also made of glass it feels like being totally immersed in nature, but with the bonus of being in a warm and dry environment full of creature comforts. All necessities are catered for with a large comfortable bed, indoor hob and outdoor barbecue along with pots, pans, plates and cutlery, fridge, flushing toilet and solar-heated shower and running water.

On warm days pull back the sliding doors and bring the outside in, while in the cold and snow snuggle up and enjoy the bio-fuel heating. The outside deck is perfect for reading, an evening drink, or simply just enjoying being completely off the grid.

Of course the best thing about the Kahutara PurePod is being immersed in the extraordinary beauty of New Zealand, where no one else can see or hear you. The more adventurous can trek the marked trails of the surrounding hills and spend hours discovering the many magnificent views.
