If you are looking to escape somewhere beautiful, both inside and out, then look no further! This place is special, and offers you the ideal location to chill out, kick back and enjoy the view. Perfect for a honeymoon, romantic retreat or simply for people who appreciate style in their lives.
Not long ago, Ithica House was a roofless ruin in need of help in the small hamlet of Rou on the north east coast of Corfu. Then it caught the eye of a successful London artist with an eye for design, she has transformed it into the stunning retreat that stands today. This place is all about location. Set in olive groves, which in spring are covered in wild flowers, the spacious garden has been designed perfectly to complement the natural landscape.
The pool is small, but perfectly formed, and the terrace area is luxurious, with sunbeds and umbrellas to provide shade. It's the perfect place to take in the uninterrupted views across the sea to Albania. Also outdoors is a covered pergola, this shades the outdoor eating area and barbecue. There are a variety of terraces and seating throughout the gardens where you can enjoy this peaceful and magical setting.
Inside this large one-bedroom restored farmhouse, the main living areas feature high ceilings, old thick walls and lots of windows so the house always feels pleasantly cool and airy. The large country style kitchen has everything a cook could wish for and you can choose to eat inside at the large dining table or in the covered eating area outside.
An arch and steps lead from the kitchen to a lovely sitting room, with sumptuous sofa and chairs where you can relax. There is a wood burning stove for you to use, depending on the time of year you visit. There is also a TV and extensive DVD library for guests to use.
The luxurious bedroom features a super king size bed with handmade mattress, air con, and three sets of French windows each opening onto a private terrace, and an en suite wet room, complete with Moroccan hand beaten basin, is the ideal place to cool off or steam up in.
At the front of the house there is space for a car, which is essential. You may be very tempted not to leave this oasis of calm, but if you do then this area of Corfu is a wonderful place to explore. Although this house is high up in the hills in a secluded setting, within a few minutes drive, you can be down on Agni beach, enjoying a swim or some local food - this area has some of the best beach tavernas on the island.
Depending on when you visit you can enjoy a variety of activities. There are lovely walks from the house taking you to Katavalos, about 1km away or if you are feeling energetic, you could walk up to Megoulas, a deserted heritage village. It is also a great place to see diverse wildlife in the area, such as; tortoises, owls, eagles, buzzards, butterflies, and lizards. Whenever you do visit, memories made here are sure to be unforgettable.

Leave a reviewWhat an absolutely amazing villa. We instantly felt at home the quality of fittings and decor are outstanding, the bed was so comfy I’ve never slept so well on holiday before. The grounds are beautiful and the view is stunning. The villa is approximately 15 mins drive up hill from the main road so it is quite remote there are no restaurants near by but we loved exploring so this didn’t bother us. Theres lots of places within a short drive Agni / Agios Stefanos/ Kassiopi/ old Perithia, which all have great tavernas. We only visited one beach but that was lovely with white pebbles and a lovely taverna Avlaki beach / Cavo barbaro ( the food was excellent). We definitely felt rejuvenated and relaxed after our week at Ithica house it truly is a magical place.

We had a wonderful week at Ithica House and we would give it the highest possible recommendation. Tucked away in the hills of northeast Corfu with glorious views across to Albania, it's superbly restored and equipped, with every detail just right. The owner is an artist and it shows. She was also very welcoming, waiting for us despite a 3hr delay and providing a delicious first meal. The house pack has all sorts of recommendations for things to do and places to eat, though it was difficult to tear ourselves away except for a day hiring a boat to swim in deep-blue waters and dock for lunch at a taverna. Ithica House is simply fabulous and we will almost certainly return.

Fantastic property with a great view and pool and a lovely host. The very quiet location allows for relaxation, although there are plenty of walks to enjoy nearby.
