In a beautiful two-acre meadow on a private farm estate in Norfolk, you’ll find five traditional tipis. It’s a tranquil setting, surrounded by 750-year-old oak trees and with a generous amount of space between each tipi, guests can make the most of the natural surroundings. Indian Summer Tipis is a child-free site that hosts no more than ten guests at any one time, so it’s perfect for couples of friends who want to escape and experience slow outdoor living in a peaceful environment.
The tipis are inspired by the authentic Sioux design which was used by the indigenous peoples of North America. With tall spires and a diameter of six metres, there’s a wonderful sense of space inside. They have been furnished in a simple style with double beds, crisp cotton linen and plenty of throws and blankets to keep you cosy. There are wooden floors, rugs and fitted cotton tipi liners for a bit of extra warmth and luxury. Outside your tipi, you’ll find some more seating and a fire bowl barbecue. There are hot showers and compost toilets on the site, as well as an additional outside wash place.
Guests can also make use of the wonderful Giant Tipi. This is new to the site this season and is an absolutely stunning 10m tipi that resembles a a canvas palace! This luscious lounge space is furnished with antique Indian day beds, low tables, floor cushions, blankets, furs and throws. This creates a laid-back bohemian vibe that makes the space perfect for reuniting with old friends or hanging out with new.
The cooking facilities are located in the handcrafted Kitchen Cabin Wagon. It’s well equipped to make sure that everything necessary to cook up delicious meals is provided and there’s a large alfresco dining area under a canvas awning. You could also do some campfire cooking on the fire in the centre of the site. An enormous tree stump houses a bespoke fire plate grill and a tripod with a hanging skillet. Gather around the campfire in the evenings, cook up delicious feasts with the other guests and watch the sunset.
And, as if that wasn't enough, there's also a craft micro brewery on the farm called the Farmhouse Brewery, Taproom & Kitchen! The brewery specialises in wild and mixed fermentations, and has a big barrel ageing project underway. All of the beers and ciders are made on site, apart from the occasional beer swap with like-minded local brewers. The Farmhouse Brewery, Taproom & Kitchen also serves delicious food, so you can enjoy some tasty treats during your stay.
Indian Summer Tipis is located in the heart of Norfolk, surrounded by countryside and with a network of footpaths and bridleways making it easy to explore.
