With more than 20 acres of gardens and woodland on its doorstep, Home Farm Cottage can be found on the Corsewall Estate, around seven miles from Stranraer in south west Scotland. This wonderfully remote location makes for a relaxing family getaway or break with close friends, with this cottage able to accommodate up to five guests.
The cottage is within walking distance of the banks of Loch Ryan, and you will have plenty of opportunities to spot the local wildlife along the way. Deer, barn owls, woodpeckers and the increasingly rare red squirrel are among the inhabitants. The gardens and woods are full of colourful flowers throughout the year, so there will always be something to look out for.
Home Farm Cottage has its own private garden too, with a barbecue and garden furniture. On arrival, you’ll find a welcome pack waiting for you, with tea, coffee and other treats including homemade brownies.
There’s space to dine in the attractive kitchen which you can access straight from the parking area. If you don’t feel like using it to cook, you can order some professionally made dishes to be delivered direct to your door. The adjacent sitting room will really feel like home with large, comfy sofas, a wood-burning stove and a flatscreen TV. You also have digital radio, Wi-Fi and lots of games, books and movies to enjoy.
One of the bedrooms can also be found on the ground floor, complete with king-size bed and en suite shower. The other two are upstairs, along with the main bathroom. One is a single bedroom and the other a twin or super-king, as required.
There is lots for children to enjoy at the cottage, including a wendy house, and a tent which can be pitched in the nearby woods. This area has its own play area with swings, climbing frame, trampoline and a 60-foot zip-wire, which even the adults might be tempted to try out.
The Galloway region has no shortage of natural beauty to explore, with the huge Galloway Forest Park at its heart, and nearby Stranraer is the main centre of its western side – you will come across some great places to eat, and children will love the miniature railway, play island and putting green of Agnew Park.

Return visit to this lovely cottage and even under new rules for Coronavirus this place does not disappoint. A friendly welcome on arrival and a warm, cosy cottage with all the essentials made for a great weeks' stay. Plenty of room for the dogs to stretch out after walks round the estate. Lots of places to visit or just wander round the estate and chill in front of the stove on days when the weather is not so kind. The only disappointment - we weren't able to have any of Kates fabulous homemade brownies. Oh well here's hoping for our next visit because we will definitely be back.

Wow! What a place. We had high hopes from the pictures on the website but it was even better in real life. The estate is beautiful and there are well signposted walks to help you explore. The local area has lots of places to visit and all of this is made much easier by the excellent visitors pack that comes with the cottage. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!!!
