Luxury cottage set in the scenic surroundings of the Corsewall Estate near Stranraer
With more than 20 acres of gardens and woodland on its doorstep, Home Farm Cottage can be found on the Corsewall Estate, around seven miles from Stranraer in south west Scotland. This wonderfully remote location makes for a relaxing family getaway or break with close friends, with this cottage able to accommodate up to five guests.
The cottage is within walking distance of the banks of Loch Ryan, and you will have plenty of opportunities to spot the local wildlife along the way. Deer, barn owls, woodpeckers and the increasingly rare red squirrel are among the inhabitants. The gardens and woods are full of colourful flowers throughout the year, so there will always be something to look out for.
Home Farm Cottage has its own private garden too, with a barbecue and garden furniture. On arrival, you’ll find a welcome pack waiting for you, with tea, coffee and other treats including homemade brownies.
There’s space to dine in the attractive kitchen which you can access straight from the parking area. If you don’t feel like using it to cook, you can order some professionally made dishes to be delivered direct to your door. The adjacent sitting room will really feel like home with large, comfy sofas, a wood-burning stove and a flatscreen TV. You also have digital radio, Wi-Fi and lots of games, books and movies to enjoy.
One of the bedrooms can also be found on the ground floor, complete with king-size bed and en suite shower. The other two are upstairs, along with the main bathroom. One is a single bedroom and the other a twin or super-king, as required.
There is lots for children to enjoy at the cottage, including a wendy house, and a tent which can be pitched in the nearby woods. This area has its own play area with swings, climbing frame, trampoline and a 60-foot zip-wire, which even the adults might be tempted to try out.
The Galloway region has no shortage of natural beauty to explore, with the huge Galloway Forest Park at its heart, and nearby Stranraer is the main centre of its western side – you will come across some great places to eat, and children will love the miniature railway, play island and putting green of Agnew Park.

We had a lovely short break at Home Farm Cottage. The cottage is very pretty, spacious and super well equipped. Corsewall Estate is amazing - an unspoilt, peaceful haven with delightful walks to the private beach. We managed to hit the ground running on this trip thanks to hosts, Kate & Angus's thoroughly good recommendations of the area which were sent prior to our arrival at Corsewall. It was a great mini-break and we would love to return to Corsewall to enjoy more of this beautiful unspoilt part of the world. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had a wonderful two weeks staying in Home Farm Cottage and felt completely at home there. Inside we found it spacious and also homely, and admired all the furnishings. We enjoyed walks and visits all over the peninsula. The kitchen was especially well equipped and the gorgeous crockery was such a pleasure to use. We really appreciated the lovely welcome and help from our hosts, Kate and Angus. Corsewall Estate was such a peaceful place, and it was always a delight to return from our outings to such a pretty cottage.

We had a wonderful few days staying at Home Farm. The house was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed lots of walks around Corsewall and also along the beach at Lady Bay. We visited Mull of Galloway and climbed to the top of the light house and enjoyed the views. We look forward to returning to Corsewall in the future.

We stayed at Home Farm Cottage in mid February - and to say we loved it is an understatement! The cottage is exactly like the photos; warm, welcoming, spotless, beautifully decorated; we could not fault it. The lovely extra wee touches like the delicious brownies, home made dog treats, bread and fresh flowers were such a lovely surprise - and so great to have all the essentials like tea/coffee/dishwasher tablets etc as many places now do not include these but it is always much appreciated! We were 4 adults, 2 dogs and one child and the house was perfect for our needs. We throughly enjoyed all of the walks around the estate and down to the beach - and we can’t wait to come back! Thanks for an amazing stay!

My husband and I (plus dog) spent a week 'working from home' in the cottage and it could only be described as bliss! The cottage was spotless and cosy, it genuinely felt as if we were the first people ever stay there. There is a real sense of peace and tranquility, in the garden and on the estate as a whole. The cottage had everything we needed, plus some tasty treats (scrumptious brownies) that we really appreciated, plus hand made doggy biscuits that our Westie loved! Brilliant! We really enjoyed the great walks and scenery, with the loch and beach so close, we made the most of every afternoon with one of the suggested walks each day. There were local shops five minutes away by car, which was very convenient and lots of stunning places to visit within 20-30 mins drive. If you want to take a real break in peaceful location, this is the place to go and we will definitely be back to re charge in the future. Thank you for a great start to 2022!

We stayed for a week in Home Farm Cottage this summer with our 3 boys and 1 dog. What a fabulous house! Everything was just right, very clean and beautifully styled. The beds were comfy, the kitchen has everything you need and a cosy lounge. The grounds are picture perfect, the added addition of a brand new tennis court was welcome surprise. Kate was super helpful and got back to me with any questions which we asked. The location is about 10 mins past the town of Stranraer, there are loads of lovely walks, a speedy zip wire with the kids LOVED, easy access to beaches, swimming and great views. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a fab stay!

Return visit to this lovely cottage and even under new rules for Coronavirus this place does not disappoint. A friendly welcome on arrival and a warm, cosy cottage with all the essentials made for a great weeks' stay. Plenty of room for the dogs to stretch out after walks round the estate. Lots of places to visit or just wander round the estate and chill in front of the stove on days when the weather is not so kind. The only disappointment - we weren't able to have any of Kates fabulous homemade brownies. Oh well here's hoping for our next visit because we will definitely be back.

Wow! What a place. We had high hopes from the pictures on the website but it was even better in real life. The estate is beautiful and there are well signposted walks to help you explore. The local area has lots of places to visit and all of this is made much easier by the excellent visitors pack that comes with the cottage. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!!!
