You should know

• There is off-road parking for up to six cars and an EV car charger which is available to use free of charge
• Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome by the owners ask that they do not go upstairs and ask that you clean up after your pooch.
• While not officially classified as accessible, the house includes step-free access throughout the ground floor and patio, along with a wheelchair-accessible shower.
• The cottage includes at no extra cost: one travel cot, one Chicco Next2Me cot, two high chairs, a changing mat, and a Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine. Available on request.

Sleeping 14 guests across five bedrooms, this modern retreat offers a peaceful sanctuary in the beautiful Kent countryside. A mere 30 miles from London, Hillside is a luxurious eco-home that has been lovingly designed to create tranquil social areas and a lovely outdoor space.

When you arrive, you’ll love the spacious, minimalist design that offers a contemporary feel. The huge windows flood these spaces with natural light whilst also offering lovely views of the greenery outside.

Gather in the open plan living space, where a super-modern kitchen offers a great place to unwind with a drink. Perch on a bar stool at the three-metre kitchen island and keep your loved one company as they whip up a feast. Just off the kitchen is a fantastic seating area, with a giant U-shaped sofa that sits next to a vast glass wall that perfectly frames the view. The beautiful timber-slatted ceiling in this space discreetly hides acoustic insulation, creating a consistently peaceful and serene atmosphere. To enhance this sense of calm throughout the rest of the house, the owners partnered with Sonio to install acoustic fabric ceilings in key areas.

The bespoke kitchen is wonderfully equipped with modern amenities that make meal prep a breeze, and when dinner’s served you can dine together on the grand dining table that comfortably seats your entire group and sets the scene for epic social meals that stretch into the night. You’ll also be delighted to hear that the whole of the downstairs features underfloor heating keeping your feet toasty on those colder days.

But on warmer days, if you step outside, you’ll adore the peaceful garden, where an abundance of greenery and a spacious patio offer plenty of space to relax in style. Get comfy on the outdoor sofas with a drink in hand as little ones make use of some of the games provided. There’s also a charcoal BBQ/smoker for alfresco grilling, and a fire pit where you can curl up with a hot chocolate and watch the stars come out above.

When night falls, there are two beautiful king size bedrooms on the ground floor along with a family bathroom with a freestanding bath for indulgent soaks and a separate rainfall shower. One of these bedrooms can be made up as a twin upon request.

Then, heading upstairs, there are two large super-king size rooms with their own ensuites for added privacy. One of these rooms even has its own mezzanine balcony that overlooks the main living area and offers a lovely spot to relax with a good book in peace or work away at the desk whilst overlooking the garden. And the second super-king room has its own freestanding bathtub in the bedroom, providing an opulent way to indulge in some pure relaxation with a glass of something delicious. The final bedroom is a fun six-person dorm room that kids and adults will love and there’s a superb family bathroom on offer too. All rooms feature electric Velux windows with black out blinds for a perfect night's sleep.

If you venture out with your group, there’s lots to see and do nearby. Be sure to visit Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, where kids can enjoy play areas, gardens, a maze, lake and the castle. On your way back, stop at the King Henry VIII pub for a late lunch or Kent ale before a 15-minute walk through fields.

Within 25 minutes, explore Penshurst Place, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, Chartwell, Knowle House, Emmetts and Ightham Mote. For relaxation, try the Forest Spa or a Parkrun in Penshurst's 13-acre woodland, then enjoy local coffee, brunch and yoga in nearby Royal Tunbridge Wells.
