Tucked away in the grounds of the grand Hermitage Estate in Lancashire's stunning countryside, this holiday cottage offers a secluded and peaceful retreat for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The estate is nestled in a tight bend of the River Lune and so is largely surrounded by flowing water with plenty of greenery growing on either bank. The cottage is set just above the water with lovely views of the river from its windows and garden. Enjoy picnics down by the water or soak up the scenery from the comfort of the hot tub out on the terrace.
Step inside the cottage and make your way through to the contemporary, open-plan living space. The main space has been set up for dining and lounging with a big dining table and comfy seating in front of a large TV. There's a piano in case anyone fancies sharing a tune or two and an area to the far end of the space that makes a cosy reading nook. You'll be drawn through to the additional seating area that overlooks the river, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. The ceiling has been painted a deep green and interspersed with small skylights so you almost feel as if you're sitting amongst the trees. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Make your way back through to the kitchen, where you'll find everything you'll need to rustle up the family's favourite meals and a dishwasher to make cleaning up a breeze. There are two bedrooms, both with windows that look out over the river. One has a comfy double bed, an ensuite bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. The other is a cosy twin with access to the family bathroom. They're both furnished in soothing, neutral tones, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere for a restful night's sleep.
When the sun is shining head out onto the terrace which overlooks the river and has glass railings so you don't miss any of the view. Relax on the comfy outdoor furniture while lunch sizzles away on the BBQ or head down to the lower level for a dip in the hot tub.
If you can tear yourselves away from your peaceful hideaway, there's lots to see and do in the area. The vibrant city of Lancaster is just a short drive away, offering plenty in the way of restaurants and shops, as well as a beautiful medieval castle. Head a little further and you'll find yourself at the coast where you can spend a day at the beach, explore the charming seaside town of Morecambe or stride off along the coastal path. The Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are also within easy reach, offering opportunities for hiking, cycling and exploring in the stunning natural beauty of the area.
