Enjoy a charming and peaceful stay amidst Roman history and beautiful scenery at Hadrian’s Wall Shepherd’s Huts. This unique and charming retreat offers couples a relaxing stay in the Northumberland countryside. As you arrive, you’ll be delighted by the marvellous countryside that surrounds you, and when you step inside you’ll see a cabin that’s rich in comfort and luxury with a deep green interior and super-comfy furnishings.
In the middle of the cabin sits two comfy armchairs, offering the perfect place to relax with a morning coffee or tuck into a good book. Light the cosy log-burner and put your feet up, keeping your toes toasty and warm whatever the weather outside. At one end of the hut sits the quaint sleeping area, with a luxury premium Emma mattress on the spacious bed guaranteeing you and your loved one a peaceful night’s sleep.
At the other end of the hut is a quaint kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, toaster and an induction hob for whipping up tasty feasts during your stay. You also have cooking and crockery equipment at your disposal. Also at this end of the hut is a small ensuite shower room with lashings of hot water.
When the weather’s warm you can step outside into your peaceful and private garden space. Relax on the chairs staying cosy and warm by the fire-pit as you gaze out at the incredible views and watch the sun set over the rolling hills. And when night falls, make the most of your location in an International Dark Sky Park and look at the constellations up above.
Guests can enjoy exclusive use of the private outdoor sauna at Steel Rigg on weekends, featuring stunning views of Hadrian’s Wall. The sauna is equipped with a Harvia sauna heater and includes a cold shower for an invigorating hot-cold therapy experience. For couples, there is a special spa pack available that includes robes, flip-flops, sauna hats and towels.
When it comes to filling your days, there are a number of board games for you to enjoy and a bluetooth speaker so you can play your own tunes throughout your stay.

We had a fantastic stay in the Steel Hut. It's -sized for a couple, and beautifully decorated. The location is perfect: walking distance to the pub, with Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda right on the doorstep, plus the lovely town of Hexham just a short drive away. We spent our time hiking and learning more about the rich history of the area, or sitting by the fire in the hut, entranced by the view from the seating area. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, even providing extra firewood for us. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights… Absolutely amazing from beginning to end. The hut was fabulous from the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in to the wide collection of books, loved everything about it. We woke up to the deer just outside the hut and a beautiful sunrise. The view was breathtaking. We loved sitting in the hut with the fire on just looking out the windows at the view. The hosts were amazing nothing was an issue, very kind and helpful people. We will definitely be back as the 2 nights we were I the hut for has made amazing memories for us. Highly recommend this place 11/10.
