The Detail...
Welcome to St Catherine's Lighthouse in Niton, Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight.
St Catherine's Lighthouse is situated just outside of the hamlet of Niton, approximately 10 minutes' drive from the popular coastal resort of Ventnor, the southernmost point of the Isle of Wight. The site comprises a terrace of three self-catering, former lighthouse keepers’ cottages, including Gurnard Cottage which sleeps five guests.
In this cosy cottage, which sleeps five, you’ll find three bedrooms and one bathroom. Everything is cleanly and simply decorated, to mirror the colours of the natural environment outside and to match the stunning views that surround you.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric effect wood burner, electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washer/dryer. And in the living room there is a TV, DVD and CD player, plus Wi-Fi throughout. For kids there’s a travel cot and highchair available should you need it.
Outside is a fully equipped, enclosed and private courtyard, where you can sit and eat outside on balmy days. There’s also a shared open grassed area, great for letting the kids let off some steam. Parking is available.
There are guided tours of the lighthouse throughout the year, please call ahead if you’d like to do this, and there’s an excellent real ale pub just a 10-minute walk up the hill.
You’re within easy reach of plenty of beaches including Ventnor beach, Shanklin beach, Freshwater Bay and Sandown beach, including the Battery Gardens. The island is very dog friendly and that there are 9 beaches that welcome dogs all year round.
Should you be in the need for history, why not explore Carisbrooke Castle, Brading Roman Villa or Arreton Old Village. Perfect for strolling around is the lovely, local Rosemary Vineyard and close by is Sandown Pier. A great day for the whole family is Robin Hill Park and Gardens, the brilliant Isle of Wight Zoo as well as Seaview Wildlife Encounters.
