The Details

Godolphin Cottage is a stylish contemporary home perfectly positioned above the sparkling Salcombe Estuary in the beautiful village of East Portlemouth. Once the local post office and shop, this elegant five-bedroom retreat has been thoughtfully transformed into a light-filled coastal haven for up to 10 guests. With the sandy shores of Mill Bay and Sunny Cove just a short stroll away, and the ferry to Salcombe only 200 yards from your door, this is the ideal South Hams escape for families and friends craving seaside serenity.

Step inside to discover a modern, open-plan living space where full-length windows draw in natural light and frame idyllic views over the peaceful valley and water beyond. The sleek kitchen, fully equipped with everything you need for relaxed self-catering, flows seamlessly into a sociable dining area and inviting lounge - perfect for sharing meals, laughter and lazy evenings together. A glass-enclosed staircase adds a striking contemporary touch, while the calm palette and natural materials keep the atmosphere soothing and coastal.

Upstairs, two spacious double bedrooms offer stunning estuary views, accompanied by two airy twin rooms, a family bathroom and an additional shower room. On the ground floor, a flexible bedroom can be arranged as a twin or double and features an ensuite Jack-and-Jill bathroom. Downstairs again, a fun basement den with a large TV provides the ideal hideaway for movie nights or a bit of quiet downtime away from the rest of the group.

Outside, the gentle slope of the garden looks out toward Salcombe, with glimpses of the water and rolling countryside. Wander down to the ferry steps for a quick trip across the estuary to Salcombe’s boutiques and seafood restaurants, or stay on this side and enjoy a day at the beach followed by dinner at the award-winning Gara Rock restaurant. From scenic walks along the South West Coast Path to relaxed beach days and pub lunches in charming South Pool or East Prawle, you’ll find endless ways to enjoy this unspoiled corner of Devon.
