Surrounded by stunning private gardens in the beautiful Devon countryside, this handsome Georgian property with its exquisite rooms and five-star food is a romantic and restful choice for those in need of a truly relaxing break. In this magical property no two bedrooms are the same. And, from the beautiful decor, The Tulip Room walls are covered with Ottoline de Vries paper and original artwork, to unique furnishings, check out The Rose Room's king-sized canopy bed, every detail of these exquisitely put-together rooms is elegant and stylish.
Fresh flowers, carefully chosen artwork and traditional fabrics create a welcoming, homely ambience in each room. Furnishings are lush and luxurious, inviting guests to sink into a relaxing stay. Each of the six bedrooms offer stunning views. Guests staying in The Copper Beech can take in views of the garden and copper beech tree from the large bay window, whilst The Morning Room, Rose Room and Old Boys Room boast vistas of the Coly Valley. The Old Kitchen is a separate, self-contained annex which is the only room to boast its own wood burner. All rooms have beautiful en-suite bathrooms with walk-in rainfall showers, large fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries for guests to pamper themselves.
Glebe House does not offer self-catering facilities but has a wonderful restaurant. Inspired by the Italian Agriturismo experience, vegetables come fresh and seasonal from the poly tunnel and kitchen garden, and other produce is locally sourced to create fabulous meals - foodies will not be disappointed. Breakfasts are offered to all guests and include a mouthwatering feast of homemade goodies, pastries, bread, jams and granolas, as well as traditional hot breakfasts with eggs cooked directly on the hotplate of the range.
From Thursday to Saturday, indulge in the four course dinner, while 'simple supper' is the theme for the rest of week, think hearty argus and cassoulets, apart from Sunday afternoons, when they serve up an Italian-style dinner with four courses served in a family style. On Sunday evening whilst they don’t serve dinner they do offer evening snacks and homemade goods like sourdough, cheese, charcuterie and pickles from the larder. After dinner, settle into one of the two living areas and snuggle by the open fire for boardgames or nod-off with a nightcap.
These sumptuous rooms, paired with mouthwatering meals, make Glebe House tough to tear away from. But there is plenty to do without having to roam very far away. Order a picnic hamper from the kitchen, grab a bottle of wine and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, or head down to the East Devon coast and explore beautiful Branscombe and Beer or the lovely seaside town Sidmouth.
