The Details

Wake each morning to the ever-changing blues of Lyme Bay and the Exe Estuary at this wonderfully positioned Exmouth hideaway. Foxholes is all about those mesmerising views — the kind that stop you in your tracks the moment you arrive. Perched above the eastern end of the beach, this light-filled coastal home blends fresh, fun interiors with a truly unforgettable outlook, giving families and friends a serene base where seaside living unfolds from dawn to dusk.

Step inside and you’ll find an inviting upside-down layout designed to soak up the scenery. The spacious ground-floor living area sits high above the shoreline, with full-width windows framing the garden, beach and distant headlands. Morning coffee is a ritual here, especially when the sea is shifting colour and paddleboarders glide silently across the estuary. In cooler months, the gas fire turns this bright space into a cosy retreat after windswept walks along the South West Coast Path, accessible straight from the garden gate.

The sage-green kitchen and dining space continues the calming coastal palette and is beautifully equipped for leisurely breakfasts and laid-back dinners. A Nespresso machine, wine cooler, plate warmer and a full suite of appliances ensure you have everything needed, whether you are whipping up a feast or heading out to sample Exmouth’s impressive seafood scene.

Upstairs, three of the four bedrooms offer dreamy sea views, each capturing a slightly different slice of coastline. The king bedroom with ensuite bathroom is the star — soft pink tones, generous storage, its own balcony and a vista made for sunrise coffees. Children will adore their themed twin room with a morning view that sparks instant excitement for the beach. Another pretty double room, complete with playful aquatic touches, also looks seaward, while the final small double sits on the middle level, cosy and restful. A family bathroom with a jacuzzi bath adds a little extra indulgence.

Outside, a sunny patio opens onto a charming lawned garden, with the coastal path just beyond the private gate. It’s a blissful spot for long lunches, sunset drinks and simply absorbing the rhythm of seaside life.

Should you wish to venture out, Exmouth is a treasure trove of cafés, independent shops, excellent restaurants and watersports. Wander into town, spend a day on the sands, hire paddleboards or take a boat trip up the estuary. With Budleigh Salterton, Topsham and Dartmoor all within easy reach, this is the perfect base for a classic Devon escape.
