The details

In the picturesque and charming Norfolk coastal town of Wells-next-the-sea, Fisherman's Cottage is a pretty and spacious cottage, offering accommodation for up to four guests over three storeys. The cottage sits in a historic port town known for great fish and chips, beautiful coastline, and atmospheric local pubs. With a set up ideal for pairs of couples or small families, Fisherman's Cottage is the perfect self-catering coastal cottage for anybody looking to explore the stunning and unspoiled Norfolk coast without compromising on comfort.

Recently renovated to a high standard throughout, Fisherman's Cottage is airy and easily large enough for two generations or a pair of couples to cohabitate happily. Each of the bedrooms is on its own floor, and both of them have their own en-suite bathroom. The larger room is on the first floor, and can be made up as either twin singles or a super king-sized bed, while the bedroom above is made up as a double, and boasts views over the historic harbour and out to sea.

On the ground floor, a fitted-kitchen combines coastal charm with contemporary, high-end amenities, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing and well designed space which it is simply a pleasure to cook in. As well as range and oven, plus the microwave, the cottage also benefits from a barbecue, located on the patio outside. This is ideal for long summer evenings, after you've picked up supplies from the butcher, or fresh fish from town. Inside, a wood-burning stove creates a cosy and ambient feeling, and the NOW TV offers movies and television for rainy evenings in. There is free fast Wi-Fi throughout the property as well, ideal for work, study, or entertainment.

Although it remains popular with holidaymakers throughout the year, drawn to the pretty coast, small town charm, and historic beauty, Wells-next-the-sea remains a hidden gem, unspoiled by hordes of tourists. Most visitors to the cottage spend the bulk of the daytime at the beach, which can walked to in around twenty minutes from Fisherman's Cottage. Deck chairs and other beach ware are provided free for guest's use in the potting shed by the terrace.

If you don't fancy the walk, a train runs from central Wells to the seaside and back, a favourite with families. Wells has a fantastic food scene, with brilliant local eateries specialising in fresh fish and seafood. Many are located a two minute walk from the cottage, like Wells Crab House, and Bang! on nearby Staithe Street. If you get the chance, be sure to sample Morston mussels. Wildlife enthusiasts will love the seals that can be seen at Marston quay, while Clay-next-the-sea and Blakeney are must-see spots for birdwatchers.
