Venture down a track and stroll past a château dating from the 9th century and you'll come to Fisherman’s Cabin. Perched on a big granite rock, overlooking the lake and just a stone’s throw from the forest, this charming quaint cabin was hand built using local timber.
Settled into the enchanting wild woodland and overlooking a private lake, the cabin has a small wooden veranda jutting out towards the lake. Inside the cabin is nicely furnished with simplicity at its heart. Designed with love, the cabin really is a treasure trove of bits and pieces to keep you busy, whether your gazing up through the telescope, or down through the microscope. Guests can also have a flick through the nature books, or make use of the art supplies and junk-shop gems.
The open living space has a sofa and a cute dining table, as well as a mini kitchen, complete with everything you'll need to cook up a storm. The cabin sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms. There's a cosy double downstairs, and up the crazy staircase is a twin bedroom which is perfect for kids (headroom is restricted) and looks out over the lake.
Eco friendly, Fisherman's Cabin has solar panels to power the electric lights, and there's a woodburning stove to keep you nice and toasty. The woodburner also heats the water for the shower and there’s a composting loo.
Step outside and enjoy a cup of coffee out on the deck overlooking the water in the mid-morning sunshine. Or, why not hop on the raft and go for a paddle down to the mini waterfall, where there's space for a BBQ?
Lovers of the great outdoors really are in for a treat. Be sure to set forth along the track and explore the wonderful natural surroundings on offer. The gorgeous countryside that's all around has plenty of marked walking and cycling tracks, and bikes are available to hire from the owners of the cabin. Be sure to cycle to the village for croissants or Piégut for the fab weekly market.
Guests can also make use of a shop in a box, meaning if you don't make it to the shop you can purchase some supplies. And you can also make use of some complimentary cold beers, a bottle of wine, tea, coffee and eco friendly toiletries.
