Ferry House is a large, comfortable home with a fantastic outdoor area, mere steps from the beautiful sandy Lelant Beach. It would be a brilliant choice for a family of up to eight or a group of friends who want a proper beach holiday in a stunning corner of Cornwall. The house is so close to the beach it's basically on it, so you'll have inescapable glorious views whichever way you turn.
The kitchen, dining and living room are open plan and spacious with a cosy seating area where you can chill out on the big squishy sofas and enjoy a film on the flat screen TV with the wood-burner crackling away, or an afternoon snooze in the shade on hot days. There are also ample books and board games to keep you entertained late into the night.
The kitchen area is modern and fully equipped for prepping big breakfasts to eat at the kitchen island and delicious suppers, which you can enjoy at the dining table with a magnificent view of the bay on chillier nights.
But in summer you're going to want to dine alfresco in the fabulous private garden where you'll find a big covered pergola with long bench seating, a built-in BBQ and amazing sea views! Whilst someone gets the burgers going you might like to have a bob about in the hot tub with a cold beer and take in the view, or head round to the indoor heated pool for a few luxury laps before dinner.
Before bed, grab a friend, or a dog, and have a stroll along the sandy beach with the waves lapping at your feet and the moon illuminating the bay.
When you're ready for bed you'll have four lovely rooms to choose from, with a mixture of super-kings, bunks and kings. The rooms are versatile, simply and beautifully decorated, and offer you the chance to wake up to glorious views. One of the rooms is on the ground floor, ideal for anyone with mobility issues. There's a shower room on the ground floor and a family bathroom upstairs, so no big queues in the morning.
Once you're up and refreshed after a good night's rest, head to the kitchen, grab a coffee and head out into that glorious St Ives light that has inspired so many artists over the years, and make some plans. You might like to take a stroll on the dunes or watch the ever changing colours over the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse as did Virginia Wolf when she wrote 'To the Lighthouse'. There are lots of lovely walks to be enjoyed in the area and Lelant is a pretty and tranquil village to wander around, even in the height of the tourist season.
There are two pubs and a bistro in the village if you fancy a local pint and a bite to eat, but if you walk a little further you'll come to St Ives with its beautiful harbour and gorgeous sandy beaches and there are a number of restaurants to choose from too. There's also the Barbara Hepworth Museum, the former home of the leading Sculptress Barbara Hepworth, and the Tate where you can take in some lovely artwork. There is also the Leach Pottery in St Ives as well!
May to August is a great time to fish for bass from the local beach, and Hayle Towans, on the opposite side of the estuary, is a popular spot for wind and kite surfing. After a long day in the sun, head back to your haven, light up the fire pit and get some marshmallows toasting.
