Learn moreWith design inspired by locations as exotic as Malaysia and Morocco, Fallen Angel puts its own eye-catching spin on the romantic Cornish retreat. Overlooking the sea in the ever-lovely Mousehole, this first-class property is within reach of the village’s fine restaurants and offers private outdoor space with magnificent views.
Not long ago, this hidden-away house built into a hillside was derelict but, after a cleverly designed rebuild, Fallen Angel is now a luxurious and special place, ideal for honeymoons or celebrations. Now, it’s equipped with plenty of luxuries – check out the brushed steel free-standing bath looking out on to the pretty garden with its sub-tropical plants and dry stone walls, and the shower big enough for two.
A seriously good-looking kitchen with sand-blasted oak units and colourful mismatched tiles contains all the appliances you could need, while the living area is full of intriguing design too. With an egg-shaped wood-burner and underfloor heating, the house is kept warm and cosy – and if you’re staying in for the evening, you have Sky TV, a Sonos sound system, DVD, Blu-ray and fast broadband to keep you entertained. There are even talking points on the outside, from the rubber-clad walls to the door which once graced a Moroccan village.
Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure you don’t miss out on those views of Mount’s Bay – you can walk straight out to the deck for a closer look. You will access the lower level via a rather special stair tunnel, and find your sumptuously decorated bedroom with floating bed. Throughout the house, patterns and textures play a big part – it’s a real sensory experience.
Mousehole’s pretty harbour, dotted with fishing boats, is reason enough to visit, but the village has also built a reputation for great food and drink. Trying the fresh Cornish seafood on offer at its eateries has got to be a priority, and there are some pleasant spots to stop for coffee and cake too.
With Penzance around three miles away, it’s also easy to check out the area’s artistic hub. Alongside the town’s galleries, you could head further west to the open-air Minack Theatre, or north to the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, which inspired the one at Fallen Angel. Of course, the area’s perennial favourites – including Land’s End and St Michael’s Mount – are within reach too. Even St Ives, on the northern coast, is only around 30 minutes away.
Whether you are heading to Cornwall for the culture, the food or simply the stunning surroundings, Fallen Angel will add an extra dimension to an unforgettable break.
