Journey to the Northern tip of Lanzarote’s sparkling coastal regions and hidden away from the tourist resorts you’ll find this peaceful, rural haven. Overlooking the secluded coast and its crystal-clear sea waters, Finca de Arrieta has a stunning island setting. Discover golden sandy beaches and dramatic mountain peaks, along with rugged ochre landscapes and flourishing fields. Charming, coastal towns are waiting to be uncovered along with sleepy, hillside villages and ancient volcanoes.
Finca de Arrieta is nestled within this majestic natural backdrop and is an eco-friendly retreat using renewable energy sources. Surrounded by 30,000 metres of private, rolling farmland, it is an exclusive collection of farmhouse rentals with five luxury villas.
The smallest of the five is the finca’s old water tower that is now a romantic, little cottage with panoramic vistas. Its historic curved exterior has been beautifully retained with centuries old stone piled in organic, haphazard ways. Inside, a comfortable king-size bedroom is joined by a modern en-suite bathroom, while a small country kitchen offers tea and coffee making facilities. Bare stone walls add a rustic quality and sit beside dark, wood beamed ceilings and marble flooring.
The Eco Garden Cottage is equally enchanting and is a characterful studio villa split across two separate levels. A cosy living and kitchen area fills the downstairs space, while a super king-size bed can be found in the master suite. Beautiful natural materials are showcased throughout and include mottled whitewashed walls with exposed stone features. A sun-drenched courtyard is perfect for lazy days and has a barbeque, sun loungers and an al fresco dining space. If you need to bring the kids then there’s even a double sofa bed that is perfect for resting two little heads.
The Eco Casita and Eco Lodge are both gorgeous one-bedroomed villas that have ancient stone exteriors and spectacular mountain vistas. Chic, stylish interiors are fused with restored, original features, to create sophisticated, rural homes that have an authentic, farmhouse finish. Sumptuous beds and plush furnishings add to the indulgent vibe and are joined by magical, outdoor terraces for star-studded nights. A double sofa bed is also on hand for the kids, while well-equipped kitchens are perfect for tasting the delicious local fish.
Expertly restored and with two lovely bedrooms, the spacious Eco Barn is the largest of the properties. Showcasing traditional stonework and exquisite marble tiles, it is a deluxe farmhouse property that has a polished, rustic style. Lavish furnishings sit on quality wood floorboards, while exposed beamed ceilings look down on a bespoke, country kitchen. A sweet bunk bedroom leads off the master king-size suite and has doors opening out onto the mountain-view terrace. An additional double sofa bed can be made up on request, making this big enough for up to six guests.
Beyond the privacy of your own eco-rental there are also a great range of facilities shared between the properties. Head to the heated lap pool or to the chill-out lounge area, or to the well-equipped kitchen or the al fresco dining terrace. A small, sandy cove is also just 200 metres away and is just one of the many golden beaches scattered along the coast. A little further out you’ll find charming Arrieta, a pretty fishing village that is just ten minutes away. Try out the exhilarating water sports or take a walk in the mountains, before seeing the famous Timanfaya National Park and its volcanic backdrop.

Fabulous place to stay! The cottage was comfy and had everything we needed. The resort is an eco resort and was quite inspirational about water recycling, solar power and food recycling (via the chickens and donkeys!). We looked at all the other accommodation on site while we were there, and would have been happy staying in any of the options. The airport transfers and car use included were really helpful and made the trip stress-free.They arranged bike hire for us which went smoothly and had loads of info available for day trips etc. The 24-hour shop was also very helpful for essentials. We would totally recommend staying here and will return.

Gorgeous off-the-beaten track eco self-catering complex - there was the right amount of solitude available (if needed) and social interaction (via Paella nights, yoga sessions or chatting around the pool to the various other guests). The kids loved it and were either making friends in the pool or collecting eggs or jumping on the trampoline. Really friendly, helpful staff (Renata is full of fantastic local information) and a great calm atmosphere. The beach nearby has a couple of nice eateries - with more in town - and the best part is the converted camper van Mojito bar! Boogie by the beach at sundown, then head back to the Retreats for a great night's rest and a calm, relaxed morning. PERFECT!

We were at this small, eco-chic "resort" in the northern part of Lanzarote. If you know where you are going, Finca de Arrieta does not disappoint in any single respect. In my (little-to-average) experience with family-friendly accomodations, I cannot imagine how to build a better establishment. It looks adventurous and cozy at the same time, and the amount of space and the quality of this space that is dedicated to children is immense - a huge but safe trampoline, a playground, animals, but more in general the place really looks like an adventurous retreat. Of course you have to have in mind that this is somewhat an "alternative" place, so if your first requisite in your holiday is cleanliness, this is not for you. I'm not saying that there's anything dirty, but indeed the idea is to forget at least some part of modern comforts for a more free and easy-going way of life (also rock and mortar floors dont help you keeping your house spotless). That being said, there is a lot that the finca can offer to you. We were in the cottage house - I used the kitchen often and I can say it's more than usable for simple dinners. The place is perfectly located, in walking distance to a pretty quiet but well-serviced beach in Arrieta. In general I expected Lanzarote to be much more populated by tourists, but at least the northern part was relatively quiet even in August. A lot of attractions lie in the area (renting a Prius is recommended, at least on your first visit) in a 20-km radius, including stunning beaches, ferry trips, caves, lookouts, you name it. The only very small letdown is that I expected a bit more from the honesty shop, which does not offer any fresh food but only low-quality items. The fresh food welcome pack can be arranged but it is honestly quite expensive. Anyway, supermarkets are at walking distance (the one at the gas station being unexpectedly the best).

Lovely, clean, beautifully finished, well-equipped accommodation, eco resort and amenities on beautiful volcanic island. Lanzarote Retreats staff were brilliant, lots of activities and social events to sign up for if you wish (kids and adults yoga, pilates, paella night, kids movie night, curry delivery, bbq packs etc). Great splash pool and playground on site, the kids made friends and ran wild (in safe surroundings!). Hire car and airport transfers included was very handy. Collect fresh eggs every morning, pet the donkeys, get groceries from the honesty shop, have beers from the honesty bar by the pool , then plant your own cactus at the resort when you leave. Great choice of things to do nearby (ferry to island beaches, water park/zoo, yellow submarine, cactus garden, ancient caves etc). Brilliant family holiday...
