East Gatehouse Lodge is a luxury, Scottish retreat, housed within a beautifully turreted cottage on the working Monzie Estate. Surrounded by its 4,000 acres of wild, rural scenery, it is a peaceful haven where you can relax in blissful tranquillity. Explore the breath-taking country landscapes of Scotland’s Perth and Kinross region, watching the grazing, farmland cattle and the rare, local wildlife. Sparkling lochs and cascading waterfalls adorn the rolling, open pastures, along with enchanted woodlands, and the iconic Monzie Castle.

The 19th century lodge has been expertly restored and is a striking, gothic figure in Scotland’s rich and interesting history. Its imposing castle turret guards the arched stone entrance and is etched with the wistful romance of a bygone era.

Step beyond the gatehouse door to uncover the secrets of the estate, exploring the quirky octagonal rooms and the winding, spiral staircase. The impressive original features ooze with the echoes of the past, and have been dressed with handpicked antiques and contemporary home comforts.

Unwind in the cosy sitting room with its warm, period elegance or the light-filled dining room next to the modern, bijoux kitchen. There are traditional armchairs beside a roaring open fire, along with classic paintings, sophisticated prints and quaint, latticed windows. The chic, country kitchen is perfect for sampling the delicious local produce.

Two carefully crafted staircases lead up to the sweet cottage bedrooms, which include a charming master double and a plush twin/double room. Each has been finished with sink-in beds and fluffy duvets and has pretty floral touches and super-soft furnishings. A stylish bathroom joins the two sumptuous bedrooms and boasts an original Edwardian slipper bath from the ancient Monzie Castle. Designer toiletries and fluffy towels add a touch of indulgence and join the timeless fittings and vintage floor tiles.

A flourishing cottage garden lies beyond the gatehouse arch, where the wonders of the estate are waiting to be found. While away your days gazing out across the country beauty, watching the dewy morning sunrise or the star-studded vistas. Wait for the scurrying red squirrels or the circling birds of prey, or throw on your hiking boots and head out on the estate.

Discover the mysterious stone circles or take a tour of the historic castle, fishing on the nearby rivers or heading to the drama of the Highlands. There are golf courses aplenty and an array of charismatic towns, including the market town of Crieff which is just four miles down the road. Stop off in its independent boutiques and mouth-watering cafes or visit in the summer months to see the famous Highland Games.

Absolutely amazing!!!! I booked this for my husbands birthday as a surprise, and when we arrived he could not believe we would be staying here. It is incredible! It was very clean!!! (I am very picky about this usually but it was spotless) the building itself is absolutely incredible! Our children also loveddd the property, our son called it the “little castle” we had such an amazing time, there were also the nicest touches on arrival (brownies and wine) thank you so so much for such an incredible stay x

A fantastic stay in an impressive building which is far from a run-of-the-mill property. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival with a fresh fire laid ready for lighting to get the stay off to a great start. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils and pots and pans etc and there is a good selection of crockery, cutlery and glassware and a nice size dining table to sit at. Throughout the property the finish is to a high standard. Upstairs the two bedrooms are a good size with a bathroom connecting them and once again everything was impressively clean. There is plenty of hot water and easy to control heating, though we chose to use the fire as often as possible! The Estate where the Lodge is based is stunning and it is well worth the mile walk down the drive to see the castle. We were fortunate enough to have a tour of the castle which was really enjoyable. Although the Lodge feels really secluded, Crieff is only a couple of miles down the road with Independent food shops as well as a good sized supermarket. There are also lots of walks directly from the house and the Glenturret distillery (Scotland's oldest) is only 4 miles up the road. All our dealings with Monzie Estate staff when booking were really helpful and professional and we were so happy that we had extended our trip to an additional night to fully enjoy our stay. Thanks Monzie, if you'll have us we'll be back!
