Sitting in over five acres of private land in England's New Forest is Durns. Historically a Georgian farmyard homestead, the exterior remains true to its agrarian past, with its intricate chequered brickwork and lattice windows. It even sits behind its own croquet lawn. A truly high-end getaway, there are numerous additional features which make this a stay like no other. Whether it be the outdoor kitchen, the heated pool, the games room or the outdoor kitchen Durns is sure to impress. The house sleeps eight guests across four luxury double rooms, with an additional six beds in the dormitory, and a shepherd's hut that sleeps two, for a total of 18. So, whether it is a family getaway, a friend’s retreat, or a celebration, this New Forest delight is suitable for all occasions.
The interior keeps one eye firmly on the past - with period features such as timber framed and vaulted ceilings - all the while exhibiting a distinctly contemporary aesthetic throughout. The ground floor contains the kitchen, fully equipped with a Duel fuel LaCanche range oven, breakfast table, and a stocked pantry which guests are welcome to use. The dining room has seating for 16, while the large and cosy sitting room has ample seating, all of which is orientated around a wood burning stove.
The first floor has three bedrooms, all of which have super king size four poster beds and opulent en suite bathrooms. The second floor houses the snug, which has ample games, toys and books, along with the Smart tv and Xbox with game pass. This top floor also has a dormitory room, which sleeps up to eight across one king size bed and six full size three-foot single beds. On this level there's also a luxury bathroom with a standalone roll-top bath. An additional two can stay in the shepherd's hut that sits on the grounds. The hut is nicely private and comes with a king bed and ensuite bathroom.
Step outside and you've got your own huge outdoor copper spa bath and hot tub as well as the swimming pool and plenty of space to spread out and unwind in the summer sunshine. There's even an outdoor cinema that you're bound to love, which comes with a projector, Netflix and wireless headphones if you need them! Avid cooks will also love the outside kitchen, which is equipped with a Gozney dome pizza oven, and a gas and charcoal BBQ, meaning you can prepare an alfresco meal for your loved ones. The games room is also a fantastic place to socialise too, with its table tennis and pool tables, as well as a dart board and a bar where you can serve up drinks. From February 2025, there will also be a wood-fired sauna at Durns, situated by the swimming pool, hot tub and outdoor copper bath.
And if you wish to head out and explore, there are 12 adult mountain bikes stored onsite for your exclusive use, as well as an app of cycling routes. If you have little ones with you, there's also a burley double bike trailer.
From spa treatments to mountain biking, kayaking to cocktail making classes, private chef services to personal fitness trainers, Durns offers a wide range of activities. However, should you wish to venture off-site, there is plenty to see and do in the area. The New Forest National Park is a special conservation area replete with numerous flora and fauna (including the famous New Forest ponies), walking and cycling trails, as well as several villages. The charming port town of Lymington is a five-minute drive to the south while Bournemouth - one of the UK's most popular resort towns - sits 45-minutes to the west.
