Sitting on on the sunny Sussex coast, metres from the shingle and sand beach, this dream holiday home has everything families could want for a fun, relaxing and memorable stay. This large house instantly impresses as visitors pull up to the large driveway which has plenty of parking for several cars.
Step through the front door into the large entrance hall where a 'locker room' style area has benches and hooks for hanging coats and stashing shoes. The interior has been thoughtfully-designed with the sea as the theme. Walls are covered in seascape watercolours, the colour scheme is full of stripy greens and blues and there are some lovely quirky touches including a driftwood upright beam, ship lanterns and a feature wall created from reclaimed timber.
The downstairs is split into two large living areas, both with bifold doors which lead out onto the pretty lawned garden. The kitchen and dining room will no doubt be the hub of the action during the holiday as large lunches and celebratory dinners are prepared and enjoyed at the big wooden dining table. After lazy days on the beach, stroll home to enjoy locally caught crab and mussels with crips white wines, or make the most of the warm evenings by sitting out on the wooden deck barbecuing fresh fish as the sun disappears on the horizon and the children play on the lawn.
When the post-sunset chill sets in, head into the stunning lounge area and fire up the wood burner. Get cosy on the huge corner sofa and settle into a movie on the flat screen television before heading up to one of the four large bedrooms. Each room is impeccably decorated with timber beams crossing ceilings, crisp linens on comfy beds and blinds to keep the early morning sun at bay. Youngsters will love the twin rooms, one even has a secret mezzanine with squishy beanbags and cushions where schemes can be hatched away from prying parental eyes.
Beyond Driftwood Haven there is lots to do. Take an early dip and wander along the beach to the popular Bluebird Cafe for a morning cuppa. Grub and Gumption, another popular breakfast spot, comes recommended, as does the great coffee at Barista Bros. Watersport equipment and tuition can be found at The Beach in nearby Littlehampton, it also serves food and is a great spot to sit with a drink and watch the sunset. For a day away from the beach, walk through carpets of bluebells at Angmering Park, catch the Festival of Speed in September at nearby Goodwood or check out historic Arundel with its fabulous castle.
