Cuckney House is a marvellous Grade II listed Georgian manor house that is perfect for your next huge group getaway. With space for 31 guests across 15 bedrooms, this delightful, spacious home sits on the Welbeck Estate in a secluded wood. With nicely manicured grounds, a tennis court, hot tubs and more, this is ideal for large groups of friends or giant family reunions in the peaceful Nottinghamshire countryside.
The grand manor house has been sympathetically restored by renowned Northern Design Award Winner, Rachel McLane. Each space within the house provides classic, timeless style whilst original architectural features ensure that the property holds on to its true character.
You can get comfy in the striking lounge with its gorgeous sofas, beautiful artwork and delightful furnishings or pop to the cosy snug for a bit of peaceful reflection away from the rest of the group. The fantastic games room is another great social space, with a pool table, video games and board games for you to enjoy. And if you fancy a more grown up evening, head to the sleek bar with its drinks fridges, glassware, ice machine and cosy seating area.
When it comes to meal prep, the giant kitchen has all of the modern amenities you’ll need to whip up feasts throughout your stay. There’s also a huge kitchen island here so you can sit and keep the designated chef company whilst they chop and dice away. The kitchen also has a nice quaint dining area at one end for informal lunches or quick breakfasts.
There are two more fabulous dining areas in the home. One is a huge, grand dining hall with big round tables and large windows framing the garden views. This is the ideal space for big dinner parties where you can all gather together and dine in style. There’s another smaller dining room with a long table that is ideal for smaller meals. Both of these spaces continue the charming, classic aesthetic that runs through the entire home, with huge high ceilings, ornate fireplaces and feature lighting.
Stepping outside, the home sits in sprawling, wonderfully-manicured grounds. The walled garden is a lovely place to unwind in the summer sunshine and indulge in some alfresco cooking thanks to its fab outdoor kitchen, pizza oven and BBQ. And after lunch you can relax in one of the hot tubs, which offer an additional slice of opulence to your stay. You even have your own tennis court and a number of outdoor games, should you wish to challenge your loved ones to a competition.
After a day of fun with the rest of your group, you’ll be able to retire to one of the house’s splendid bedrooms for a peaceful night’s sleep. There are 15 bedrooms in total with beautiful ensuite bathrooms. Some have ornate, freestanding bathtubs for opulent soaks and some also have big, comfy sofas at the foot of the bed where you can unwind with your morning coffee. There are also two family suites, which are great for any guests travelling with their kids, and an accessible suite for anyone with mobility issues.
Whilst you may wish to while your days away in this beautiful abode, if you do venture out there are lots of things to see and do in the local area. You could visit Welbeck Abbey and go on an organised tour or opt for a tour of the nearby DropWorks Rum Distillery. Guests may also wish to visit Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. Whatever you do whilst out and about, you’ll be delighted to return to the incredible luxury on offer at Cuckney House.
