The details
The peaceful and charming Cocketts Cottage sits in the heart of Suffolk and is surrounded by beautiful farmland. The 16th Century farmhouse was built by one of the early Quakers and the property is a superb retreat for groups of up to six guests who want to escape to the countryside.
On the ground floor is the social space, including the large living room with beamed ceiling, comfy leather sofas, and a flatscreen TV. There is also an Inglenook fireplace with log burner for those cosy evenings in. The fully equipped farmhouse kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, electric double oven, and dishwasher - as well as a pine dining table seating up to eight people. There is also a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a shower room.
Heading upstairs leads to the master bedroom with king size bed and feature fireplace, as well as another king size room that can be made up as a twin if required. The family bathroom has a power shower over the bath, while stairs head up to the attic where there is a third twin bedroom with the original vaulted ceiling. Also on this level is the playroom, which has a double futon and a single futon, taking the capacity up to six guests.
To top it off, you also have a private outhouse where you'll find a free-to-play pub style pool table and a dartboard. This is a great spot to challenge your loved ones to a game come the evening.
The cottage sits on around an acre of its own enclosed garden, making this safe grassed area perfect for dogs and small children - who will be kept further entertained by a wooden playhouse with garden toys. There is also a west-facing patio with outdoor table and chairs for a morning coffee, evening drink, or even some al fresco dining when the sun is shining. Beyond the garden is an even larger grassed area, which is ideal for outdoor games.
Also on site is the old orchard with its array of fruit trees and a picnic table for further relaxation, while those staying are welcome to meet the owners’ goats. It’s easy to head even further afield as well, with many country walks and cycle routes right on your doorstep. Cocketts is close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast, as well as Norwich, Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds.
