The detail

This gorgeous, family-friendly villa offers peace and tranquillity and sits in the heart of a beautiful nature reserve in Portugal’s Algarve region. With a fantastic swimming pool, lovely views of the surrounding countryside and plenty of social spaces both inside and out, this is the ideal location for your next summer holiday.

The villa was once an old ruin sitting at the end of a dirt track, however, it has now been renovated into a charming holiday destination tucked amidst hundreds of olive, almond and cork trees. Designed by Pedro Domingos architects, this modern space incorporates strong lines, white walls and contemporary concrete floors. This creates a bold effect that stands out nicely against the natural surroundings. The villa features many large windows and doors as well as a rooftop terrace and a number of patios meaning guests can enjoy the view as they socialise both inside and out.

The large courtyard is stunning and contains a semi-enclosed swimming pool that all the family will love. The pool was constructed using natural stone, which was also used for the kitchen counters, sinks and benches.

When it comes to meal preparation, the kitchen is nicely equipped and has a large island where you can sit and keep the designated chef company. There’s also a nice dining patio space positioned next to the kitchen, offering the perfect place to enjoy an alfresco meal.

On the upper level of the villa is the living room, which is connected to the back garden and a huge rooftop terrace, with stunning views of the nature reserve. The living room also features a wood burning stove to keep you toasty all year round.

When bedtime beckons, the four bedrooms are modern and minimal, whilst offering comfy beds and a neutral colour palette that guarantee a great night’s sleep.

If you wish to head out you’re only a five-minute drive from the villa of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, which has supermarkets, grocery stores and some lovely restaurants for you to try. The Algarve’s most beautiful beaches are just a 20 minute drive from your door, and golfers will love the nearby courses, which are world class.
