Located on the shores of Loch Venachar in the heart of the Trossachs, Carsaig is a contemporary holiday lodge set in its own three acres of grounds. Start the day by heading down to the private lochside beach to soak up the views across to water to Ben Venue and brave a dip in the loch. Enjoy long walks in the national park during the day before returning to cook dinner on the BBQ or relax in the hot tub. In the evenings, snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove as you watch the sunset through the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the loch.
The large living room is the social hub of the house with big comfy sofas and armchairs gathered around the wood burning stove, perfect for watching films together in the evenings or a board game or two. There are stunning views over the loch from the huge windows and the sliding doors that lead out onto the patio. Three steps lead up to the fully-equipped kitchen and dining room with a large table and another huge window facing the water. On sunny days, head to the outside dining area at the back of the house and get stuck into a game of petanque as a late lunch sizzles away on the BBQ.
There are three bedrooms, each sleeping up to two guests. The main bedroom is bright and spacious with a luxurious six foot bed opposite a huge window overlooking the loch and an ensuite bathroom. There’s another double room, also with stunning views over the water and an ensuite shower room. The final bedroom is a twin, also with an ensuite featuring an over-bath shower.
Outside, you’ll find a large garden to explore, including a Woodland Fairy Trail. The garden slopes down towards the loch where you’ll have your own jetty providing access to the water for non-motorised water sports. The lodge has plenty of storage for kit such as kayaks and paddleboards. As the sun starts to set, light the wood burner in the outdoor seating area and enjoy being outdoors late into the evening.
The lodge is perfectly located for those looking to get stuck into some outdoor activities. As well as activities on the loch, there are miles of footpaths and forest roads leading around the water, through woodland and up to the mountains from the lodge itself. The area is known for some of the best gravel riding routes in the country and there are trails for all abilities, so bring your bike or hire one when you arrive. Carsaig is also located just an hour away from the cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, all great destinations for a day trip.
