Standing proudly at the entrance to the former Tixall Estate, this remarkable octagonal gate lodge has watched more than two centuries of history unfold. With its distinctive ogee dome and bottle-shaped silhouette, this beautifully restored Grade II listed building is now an enchanting retreat for two, combining fascinating heritage with carefully considered modern comforts.

Lovingly restored over almost six years using traditional materials and the expertise of skilled local craftspeople, every detail has been thoughtfully preserved. Original character sits effortlessly alongside bespoke oak joinery, handcrafted finishes and luxurious furnishings, creating an intimate hideaway where you can immerse yourself in the story of this extraordinary little building while enjoying a wonderfully comfortable stay.

Inside, the lodge makes clever use of its unique octagonal layout. The ground floor features a compact yet well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare leisurely breakfasts before settling down at the dining table to plan the day's adventures. Fascinating place beautifully restored making the very best of the limited space. The stairs were a bit of a challenge as we are less than nimble. Lovely walk along the river and canal. 10 minutes into the middle of Stafford. Great couple of days.
