Constructed from sustainably sourced timber, the home slots in seamlessly with its woodland surroundings. Expect modern interiors with views over the fields toward the coastline of Fife from the living space and two cosy sleeping nooks for a good night’s rest after a busy day spent exploring the landscape. The outdoor seating area, complete with a firepit, is the ideal setting for evening drinks.
A glass door leads into the open-plan living area. Hand-picked soft furnishings make the place feel just like home, and the built-in sofa encourages curling up under a blanket after long hikes. The log burner not only keeps the abode warm but also doubles as a stove for cooking your favourite recipes. You’ll find all the utensils and equipment you could need in the compact kitchenette. The sleeping arrangements comprise two double beds, topped with duvets handcrafted in Scotland and made from completely recycled materials. When it’s time to freshen up, the slick bathroom boasts a rainfall shower and complimentary environmentally-friendly soap.
Outside, a decked terrace provides the perfect vantage point for watching squirrels and birds. If you’re lucky, you may even catch sight of some deer. Serve lunch hot off the BBQ before dozing off in the double hammock on a sunny afternoon. Once you’re ready to explore, stretch your legs with a wander through the grounds and follow pathways leading to the seashore.
A 2.5-acre Georgian walled garden and a play area for those staying with little ones are also waiting to be discovered. Pick up a souvenir from the visitor centre and shop after enjoying a light bite at the on-site vegetarian cafe. For something a little different, indulge in a tasting experience at the Kingsbarns distillery (just a short walk away, up the farm track), or venture to St Andrews, renowned for its golf courses, university, and castle, just a 15-minute drive away.
