Hidden among four hectares of ancient woodland on Scotland’s spectacular west coast, Bothy Doire is a beautifully crafted cabin where switching off comes naturally. There’s no WiFi or TV and phone signal is limited, leaving you free to spend your days exploring the trees, watching wildlife and soaking up uninterrupted views towards the mountains and nearby loch. Built on the land where owner JJ grew up exploring as a child, this is a wonderfully personal hideaway designed to share the magic of a landscape his family has loved for generations.

Created in collaboration with Scottish cabin designers Bothanna, the cabin has been carefully designed to sit lightly within its surroundings. Locally sourced timber and a Douglas fir post-and-beam frame give the interior a warm, natural feel, while large windows keep you connected to the woodland outside. The living area is particularly inviting, with a comfy sofa and armchair gathered around the wood-burning stove. Settle in with a book after a day outdoors, break out one of the board games or simply watch the trees through the windows as the fire crackles away.

Bothy Doire sleeps four, making it a lovely option for couples and small families. Two single beds are tucked into a separate bunk room, while a king size bed sits up on the mezzanine, reached via a ladder. Each sleeping space has its own window looking out into the woodland, so the trees are among the first things you’ll see when you wake. There’s also a well-equipped kitchenette with an induction hob, fridge and everything you need to prepare relaxed meals during your stay, as well as an eco-friendly compost toilet.

Doors from the living space lead straight onto the covered deck, which feels like a front-row seat to the wild Highland landscape. Enjoy breakfast outside with the binoculars close at hand, roll out the provided yoga mats or linger over dinner as the light fades across the mountains. When darkness falls, the remote setting makes this a fabulous spot for wrapping up warm and heading outside to stargaze.

You’ll have four hectares of ancient semi-natural woodland to explore, part of Scotland’s precious coastal temperate rainforest and home to an extraordinary variety of mosses, lichens and other wildlife. Further afield, the remote Ardnamurchan area rewards adventurous days out with rugged mountains, lochs, wild coastline and beautiful walks. Even getting here feels like part of the adventure, with routes from Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh taking you through some of Scotland’s most memorable scenery.
