Perched high on the cliffs above Mawgan Porth, Blue Bay House is the kind of place that makes everyone fall silent for a moment. The Atlantic stretches out before you in a sweep of blue, waves curling onto golden sand below, sea air filling your lungs as you step onto the vast deck. From sunrise coffees wrapped in blankets to sunset drinks as the sky turns apricot and pink, the views here are nothing short of mesmerising.

Designed for joyful gatherings, this eight bedroom beach house sleeps up to 20 guests and feels wonderfully laid-back yet impressively spacious. The heart of the home is the expansive open-plan living area, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the ocean and long tables invite lingering dinners filled with laughter. There’s room for everyone to come together – whether that’s sharing a celebratory feast, playing games late into the night or mixing cocktails at the feature bar while music drifts through the house thanks to the bluetooth speakers.

The commercial-style kitchen makes catering for a crowd a pleasure, while a cosy TV den offers a snug retreat for film nights. If you’re marking a milestone or simply fancy a break from cooking, an award-winning chef can prepare anything from indulgent breakfasts to full celebratory suppers, transforming your stay into something truly special. The owners also offer a range of catering packages, from a pasty on arrival and delicious breakfasts to our house-speciality seafood BBQ featuring fresh lobster.

Accommodation is spread across the main house, garden rooms and annex, all ensuite and all blessed with sea views. In the main house, you’ll find four generous bedrooms – three upstairs and one on the ground floor – while two bedrooms open directly from the garden and deck, perfect for slipping outside with your morning coffee. A further three bedrooms sit within the annex, accessed from the deck, offering privacy while keeping everyone connected. Many rooms open straight onto the decking, so the boundary between inside and out gently disappears.

Outside is where Blue Bay House truly shines. The enormous deck, edged by lawns and furnished for alfresco feasts, is made for sociable afternoons and long, star-lit evenings. Fire up the barbecue, pour a glass of something chilled and watch the tide roll in. Children can play safely on the quiet lane while adults unwind in the salty breeze.

Mawgan Porth itself is a peaceful Cornish gem, with a beautiful sandy beach perfect for surfing, rock pooling and long coastal walks. Follow the South West Coast Path for breathtaking cliff-top rambles or venture to nearby Padstow and Newquay for restaurants, shops and family attractions. However you spend your days, returning to this cliff-top sanctuary as the sun sinks into the sea will always be the highlight.
