Situated in the North West Highlands of Scotland, Wester Ross is a designated UNESCO biosphere. Framed by the Torridon Massif to the south and the Outer Hebrides to the north, the landscapes are jaw dropping. Bliss Haus sits on the south facing shore of Loch Ewe, a perfect vantage point for watching the abundant wildlife, and with the vast floor-to-ceiling windows, you are always connected to the wild outdoors. The interior has a fun, colourful vibe creating a stylish space for two to four people. Intelligent living combines sustainability with integrity and Biophilic design (design features that reconnect people with nature), making for a calming and restorative space.
Curves feature strongly in this stylish Highland abode. A circular entrance hall clad with tactile birch ply draws you into an open concept design, a sociable relaxed vibe giving spectacular views through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows. A super comfy living space with a big squishy sofa makes the ideal spot for chilling out in front of the log burner with your favourite folk.
The contemporary kitchen has all the appliances and gadgets needed to keep the most creative chefs happy and inspired. Fresh seafood is readily available for any fine dining feast. There’s a stylish dining space with a reclaimed pine table, retro leather seating for six and a sunset glitterball for your inner disco diva.
Outside, a large wrap-around larch deck gives you plenty of space to relax in the two-person hammock, the perfect place to unwind and soak up the amazing surroundings and dramatic sunsets. Funky outside furniture give the option of alfresco dining in the warmer months. Star gazing out over the loch, snuggled up by the fire pit makes for memorable evenings - especially if you get a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
When it comes to sleeping there is one master suite, a romantic cocoon of relaxed calm featuring a king-size Button & Sprung bed, where you can be lulled to sleep with the sounds of the ocean and enjoy uninterrupted views out over the fields. There is a spacious en-suite with a walk through rain shower giving it a spa-like feel. The second bedroom is beautifully designed, with two spacious bespoke steamer style bunks with porthole windows. There's more curve appeal here in the second bathroom, with a bright, spacious shower and views out to the loch.
Bliss Haus is eco chic, sustainability being at the top of the list with natural materials and textiles, low VOC paints, and reclaimed and sustainable wood. The property is on the main grid power supplied by Bulb (using only sustainable power), also there are photovoltaic panels and a clever Zappy electric car charger enabling you to holiday in comfort and style, with a lower carbon footprint.
Straight through the garden gate and out on to the beach, the loch is the perfect place for some early morning wild swimming. There are plenty of amazing guided kayaking options available locally for all levels of experience. Sailing, sea snorkelling safaris, whale & dolphin watching and fishing trips all go from the pier in Gairloch village just 12 miles away.
White sandy beaches and turquoise waters are within walking distance, or a quick drive over the headland will take you to Mellon Udrigle, one of the most breath-taking beaches on the west coast. The small vibrant crofting community of Aultbea has cafes, a Russian Arctic convoy museum, an abundantly stocked local shop, Aultbea Stores, with deli/ bakery and an outstanding range of gins and whiskies.
For the keen hill walker Bliss Haus is an ideal location to explore on foot or on two wheels, with a vast array of trails and walks. The Fisherfield Forest - also known as the Great Wilderness - contains the most remote Munros in the whole of Scotland. The route is an epic trail encompassing five Munro mountains and one Corbett (like a Munro but slightly smaller). Lovers of the great outdoors really are spoilt here with stunning natural landscapes, outdoor adventures and abundant and diverse wildlife.
To make life easier we offer complimentary logs, fire lighters and useful stuff like salt & pepper, foil, olive oil, Method non toxic cleaning products.
Sea Kayaking adventures, Whale & Dolphin watching trips & Sealife snorkelling safaris are all local to us. Loch Ewe and the beach is accessed through your garden gate. Leave a reviewBliss Haus was the perfect place to relax, unwind and spend our Christmas 2020. The fact there wasn't much open locally (due to the time of year and the pandemic) didn't matter, there were lots of walks and activities to keep ourselves entertained and, lets face it, who would want to leave the fabulous accommodation anyway? It did not disappoint, it's beautifully designed and completed with lots of quirky touches, super cosy and eco-friendly. Paula and her family were nearby if we needed anything. Marshmallows by the fire pit is a must!

If you love beachcombing, beautiful decor and amazing views then Bliss Haus is for you! We booked a very last minute break after our other accommodation was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions, and we were so glad we did. Our first couple of nights were quite stormy but we were were happy staying cosy beside the fire while the storm raged outside. The building itself is beautifully crafted and sits perfectly in the West coast landscape. The living area is spacious and great for kids, and the kitchen was beautifully designed. Our daughter loved the bunk beds with cute porthole windows and there was a handy cot and highchair for our baby who took her first steps while we were there. Our last night was spent beside the fire pit in the garden as the sun went down over Loch Ewe. One of our favourite ever stays. Thank you Paula and Alastair for a wonderful holiday.

The most amazing half term week! A beautiful modern house right on Loch Ewe. Super comfy sofas and log burner made it snuggly to gaze through the floor to ceiling windows at the amazing autumnal colour changes across the water as the weather passed through. When it got dark there was WiFi, Netflix and board games. There is a lot of WW2 history due to the Russian Arctic Convoys, hikes, waterfalls, museums, horse riding, beaches with crystal clear sea, pubs with excellent food, cafes for coffee/cake, and the Seafood Shack, Ullapool is award winning.

You cannot fault Bliss Haus, it is perfect for a relaxing, comfortable stay with stunning views and easy access to lots to do in the area. We loved waking up every morning to views over the loch. Paula had prepared a very helpful welcome pack which included where to stop on route to pick up supplies and lots of local places to eat and things to do. We were left to ourselves from then to enjoy this stunning house. It was the space and quiet we were looking for and watching the stars every night was a big plus. We can't wait to go back. You will love staying here.

What Bliss! We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Bliss Haus. We arrived to a very warm welcome with many thoughtful touches to help us have an amazing stay. Paula and her lovely family offered many local tips and provided useful information, as well as going out of their way to answer questions and let us know of local events (fabulous pizza truck in Poolewe etc) and activities. The accommodation is stunning, and a perfect blend between considerate eco-friendly and plush comfort. The house was spotless and had every convenience to make it a home from home. Local area is gorgeous and there is plenty to do, but it was the peace and beauty we enjoyed most. Highly recommend Bliss Haus to any looking for a super stylish Highland idyll! Just ideal for a family of 4 with both exploration and relaxation equally on the agenda.

Bliss Haus is truly amazing. We are a family of 4, holidaying in the Highlands for the first time - Wester Ross is truly spectacular but it was coming home every night to our gorgeous accomodation that really made the holiday special. Paula and Alistair are lovely, friendly hosts and they have really thought of everything to ensure their guests have an amazing holiday. Our city kids loved being able to walk through the garden gate and onto the beach - their morning walks and shell collecting adventures a highlight of their stay. And for us, sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sunset was truly blissful. From the wonderful, local sandy beaches to the abundance of marine wildlife, beautiful botanical gardens and local fascinating museums, there is something for everyone here. We loved it.
