Bliss Haus sits on the south facing shore of Loch Ewe, a perfect vantage point for watching the abundant wildlife, and with the vast floor-to-ceiling windows, you are always connected to the wild outdoors. The interior has a fun, colourful vibe creating a stylish space for two to four people. Intelligent living combines sustainability with integrity and Biophilic design (design features that reconnect people with nature), making for a calming and restorative space.
Curves feature strongly in this stylish Highland abode. A circular entrance hall clad with tactile birch ply draws you into an open concept design, a sociable relaxed vibe giving spectacular views through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows. A super comfy living space with a big squishy sofa makes the ideal spot for chilling out in front of the log burner with your favourite folk.
The contemporary kitchen has all the appliances and gadgets needed to keep the most creative chefs happy and inspired. Fresh seafood is readily available for any fine dining feast. There’s a stylish dining space with a reclaimed pine table, retro leather seating for six and a sunset glitterball for your inner disco diva.
Outside, a large wrap-around larch deck gives you plenty of space to relax in the two-person hammock, the perfect place to unwind and soak up the amazing surroundings and dramatic sunsets. You'll find a deep, wood-fired hot tub with gorgeous views over the water. Funky outside furniture give the option of alfresco dining in the warmer months. Star gazing out over the loch, snuggled up by the fire pit makes for memorable evenings - especially if you get a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
When it comes to sleeping there is one master suite, a romantic cocoon of relaxed calm featuring a king-size Button & Sprung bed, where you can be lulled to sleep with the sounds of the ocean and enjoy uninterrupted views out over the fields. There is a spacious en-suite with a walk through rain shower giving it a spa-like feel. The second bedroom is beautifully designed, with two spacious bespoke steamer style bunks with porthole windows. There's more curve appeal here in the second bathroom, with a bright, spacious shower and views out to the loch.
Bliss Haus is eco chic, sustainability being at the top of the list with natural materials and textiles, low VOC paints, and reclaimed and sustainable wood. The property is on the main grid power supplied by Bulb (using only sustainable power), also there are photovoltaic panels and a clever Zappy electric car charger enabling you to holiday in comfort and style, with a lower carbon footprint.
Straight through the garden gate and out on to the beach, the loch is the perfect place for some early morning wild swimming. There are plenty of amazing guided kayaking options available locally for all levels of experience. Sailing, sea snorkelling safaris, whale & dolphin watching and fishing trips all go from the pier in Gairloch village just 12 miles away.
White sandy beaches and turquoise waters are within walking distance, or a quick drive over the headland will take you to Mellon Udrigle, one of the most breath-taking beaches on the west coast. The small vibrant crofting community of Aultbea has cafes, a Russian Arctic convoy museum, an abundantly stocked local shop, Aultbea Stores, with deli/ bakery and an outstanding range of gins and whiskies.
For the keen hill walker Bliss Haus is an ideal location to explore on foot or on two wheels, with a vast array of trails and walks. The Fisherfield Forest - also known as the Great Wilderness - contains the most remote Munros in the whole of Scotland. The route is an epic trail encompassing five Munro mountains and one Corbett (like a Munro but slightly smaller). Lovers of the great outdoors really are spoilt here with stunning natural landscapes, outdoor adventures and abundant and diverse wildlife.

Leave a reviewWe had 3 weeks at Bliss Haus.We were lucky with the weather and were able to eat our lunch and dinner outside on some days. The views from the house were amazing and changed every day according to the weather. The house was very comfortable relaxing and peaceful.

We stayed at Bliss Haus in February 2023. It was perfect - even the weather! It was cold, but we only had one day of rain, but being inside watching the rain through all the windows while being secure and warm inside even felt like a treat. The house has been done to wonderfully high standard, with everything you need in there. The location is perfect - we are cold water swimmers so had a couple of cold dips in the Loch and could run back inside to warm by the fire. We did a lot of driving around in the week we were there, and it was always lovely getting back to Bliss Haus after our full days to play games (there were plenty for the kids), and keep watch for any signs of the Northern Lights (we didn't see any, but apparently the week after they were visible!). The beds were insanely comfortable, the showers beautiful and hot - our 9 year old twins loved the bunk beds with all the little touches. We will definitely be back :)

Bliss Haus is in a lovely property in an idyllic location. I don't think I have ever had a view like it! We love wildlife so we were delighted to see the resident otter up close, seals, deer and countless birds in the bay and surrounds. We went at a time where there was very little open in terms of tourist attractions but we found plenty to fill our days! Loch Ewe is a fascinating place with an interesting history and the local beaches, hills and villages are lovely. In the evenings we spent hours in front of the woodturner watching the lights in the bay. It is a perfect place to relax in beauty and comfort.

Stayed in this gorgeous property for 2 weeks in Aug/Sep. The location is beautiful and it’s ideal for a good chill out. We were blessed with unbelievably good weather; the sky at night was simply stunning and we regularly saw The Plough and several shooting stars. Bliss Haus is very well furnished, modern and extremely comfortable, tho it would benefit from the addition of a microwave for ease of cooking. Plenty of lovely walks to enjoy in the local area, and a visit to Inverewe gardens and the Convoy Museum is worthwhile. We will forever remember our last night there as it was where we were when our beloved Queen passed away; a shooting star and outstanding sunset guided her on her way. I can’t recommend Bliss Haus enough.

Everybody needs a little Bliss in their life. What an absolutely wonderful week of complete escapism and tranquility!! Paula and Alistair have thought about everything, with all needs being catered for. Bliss Haus is pristinely clean, stunningly designed and with wonderful thoughtful touches. The panoramic views over Loch Ewe are mesmerizing and we still miss them and our wildlife sightings including sea otters, seals and dolphins!. The accommodation is completely wheelchair friendly, our 13 year old son could access all parts of Bliss Haus, with no obstacles or boundaries. The garden was equally accessible and the children loved their marshmallows toasted in the firepit. The area of Wester Ross is utterly beautiful and the people were so friendly and welcoming. Highlights included Mellon Udrigle Beach, Gairloch and its beaches, Inverewe Gardens and the beautiful Loch Ewe right outside the accommodation. Our kayaks were well used! We had the most wonderful family week at Bliss Haus and can't wait to rebook. We would highly recommend Bliss Haus for a purely luxurious break away from the norm and its ability to capture your soul!! Paula and Alistair, thank you for all of your help and invaluable advice during the booking of the Bliss Haus and our stay there. You have a jewel there!! The Crawshaw Family

This is a fantastic place, without reservation the nicest holiday home we’ve ever stayed in. Everything is wonderfully considered and finished to a fantastic standard. After a long day outdoors you can relax in luxury and enjoy the views of Loch Ewe. The owners could not be friendlier or more helpful.

We had a fantastic and incredibly relaxing time at Bliss Haus. The house layout and the thoughtful supplies and amenities worked really well for the 2 of us; the views are truly fabulous - and the house makes the most of them; and Paula and Alistair were perfect hosts - very helpful and friendly. Bliss Haus has a great location near lots of lovely walks and on the edge of small friendly village. Highly recommended - I hope we'll be back.

A peaceful and tranquil retreat. This place had everything I needed.. Staying during the month of March, I wasn't expecting such great weather and views from Bliss haus, but it was great. Thanks to the layout of the place and its large windows I was able to see breath taking sunset every day (even with clouds) and glorious sunshine and on the occasion rain from the lounge made me feel so close to the outdoors, yet cosy and snug inside. Bliss Haus is very well equipped, there wasn't anything I needed. Paula and Alistair made me feel very welcome and were available for any questions and help. The location is great too, it's not too far from busier villages/towns so you get the best of both worlds, the silence in Aultbea and the warmth of the Scottish Community in local places.

We’ve never felt so at home so far away from home. Bliss Haus was in such a beautiful and peaceful location, but above all else, Paula and Alistair made us feel very welcome. When we arrived, the log burner was already on the go and they kindly made sure we were stocked up! We read that the house was built with relaxation in mind and we certainly felt like we were part of the sea and countryside surrounding us. All the household supplies were environmentally friendly. On snowy days we were happy just sitting in front of the log burner and admiring the living landscape. On brighter days we had some fantastic walks at Loch Kernsary and Slaggan Bay. We didn’t need a supermarket. Nearby Aultbea Stores had all the basics and little luxuries we needed. The finishing touches at Bliss Haus made us feel like we were living in luxury too - the super comfy bed, spa like bathrooms and kitchen equipment were all exceptional. We felt lucky and very spoiled to have spent time there. Paula and Alistair have made it a very special place.

An absolutely unbelievable stay at the stunning Bliss Haus with our family (2 adults + 2 kids)!! Even before arriving Paula and Alistair were amazing hosts sharing welcome packs and numerous emails with local knowledge, tips and support for our stay. As we were going to be there for Xmas, Paula was fantastic in assisting us with where to get all of the Xmas food through local contacts and even organised a traditional Xmas tree and some decorations to make Bliss house a really special Xmas location. Upon arrival the log burner was already lit ensuring that the house was warm and we were very happy to be arriving to such a welcome. Bliss Haus itself is stunning and very modern in design with fantastic bedrooms, bathrooms, a brilliant lounge/dining area and all the latest appliances needed for a great self-catering stay. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed many mornings and evenings watching the sun rise and set over the Loch, as well as taking advantage of the firepit to toast marshmallows and admire the stars. Paula and Alistair were available as needed for support throughout our stay which was fantastic and they were genuinely lovely hosts. I couldn't recommend Bliss Haus enough for a couple or young family as a truly wonderful destination to stay and we can't wait to hopefully get an opportunity to return!

My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon and we ABSOLUTELY loved it ! As soon as we saw it in coolstays we wanted to book. It was the perfect place for us - we love the outdoors and the wildness of the area which was framed beautifully from morning to night by the massive window walls. It was lovely to come in and enjoy a luxury space together after a day outside. Paula has left a bottle of fizz and delish chocolate brownie treat for us and the place was spotless. The walk in shower was a highlight and the bedding was so soft . We didn’t get round to using the fire pit but will do next time - perfect wee romantic spot. Feels very private. Lovely outdoor seating area. The place has a very fun feel to it With the disco ball and yellow smeg fridge but is relaxing to be in as well with the stove and little touches. Perfect for a romantic getaway !

Absolutely heaven! We had been waiting for over a year to come to Bliss Haus - postponed due to two lockdowns. Third time lucky. One of the best places we have been staying at. We arrived in the dark and nothing had prepared us what a view we woke up to - absolutely stunning (thank you Alistair for starting the log fire!). The house itself is a dream - beautifully designed - with all what you need and more. You don't want to leave the house but there are so many things to see and experience around the NC500 - but it was a treat coming back to sit and read before the log burner. Having an electric car and being able to charge it was just brilliant (and with solar panels as well). Thank you Paula and Alistair for your generosity and hospitality. Feels like we have made friends for life. We will come back time and time again to this gem which is Bliss Haus. Thank you from Paul and Fred x

If you want tranquility and luxury your looking at the right place. Bliss Haus exceeded our expectations as soon as we walked in the door. it has to be one of the most comfortable places we have stayed from the beds to the fully equipped kitchen. Alistair and Paula have thought of all the details as if they were living there, from places to wash our wetsuits to having good mirrors in the bathroom! (wouldn't believe the places we have been that don't have mirrors). We were advised by Alistair of some great launching places for the paddle boards and we had great fun exploring Loch Ewe. With its crystal waters we could see plenty of activity under the water, especially crabs in the little coves. We explored the local area to find Scotland at its best, plenty to go see and explore. We took a boat trip out from Gairloch where we were lucky enough to see whales. In Poolewe the cafe of curiosities is fun to have afternoon tea after a walk. Thanks The Everetts

Thank you Paula and Alistair for a truly memorable stay. Bliss Haus is in a great location with spectacular views. It was immaculately clean, warm and comfortable with fixtures and fittings all to a very high standard. We had beautiful sunrise, sunsets and some remarkable coastal fog that engulfed the Isle of Ewe! A fabulous place and easily one of the best we have ever stayed in, thank you again.

I’m not sure how to express how wonderful Blisshaus is, other than to say - the clue’s in the name! We had the most wonderful week at Paula and Alistair’s beautiful property. Tastefully decorated with beautiful attention to detail, Blisshaus is an absolute treat. Perfectly situated on the shores of Loch Ewe, near the village of Aultbea, this is a gem of a place. If you appreciate attention to detail, luxury fixtures and fittings, great design and 5-star views of the stunning Wester Ross sky and coast, then this is the place for you. Spotlessly clean, all furniture and fittings in excellent condition. Lovely hosts, and a very generous bottle of fizz to welcome us! Worth every penny. Can’t wait to go back. An easy 5 star +

Bliss Haus was the perfect place to relax, unwind and spend our Christmas 2020. The fact there wasn't much open locally (due to the time of year and the pandemic) didn't matter, there were lots of walks and activities to keep ourselves entertained and, lets face it, who would want to leave the fabulous accommodation anyway? It did not disappoint, it's beautifully designed and completed with lots of quirky touches, super cosy and eco-friendly. Paula and her family were nearby if we needed anything. Marshmallows by the fire pit is a must!

If you love beachcombing, beautiful decor and amazing views then Bliss Haus is for you! We booked a very last minute break after our other accommodation was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions, and we were so glad we did. Our first couple of nights were quite stormy but we were were happy staying cosy beside the fire while the storm raged outside. The building itself is beautifully crafted and sits perfectly in the West coast landscape. The living area is spacious and great for kids, and the kitchen was beautifully designed. Our daughter loved the bunk beds with cute porthole windows and there was a handy cot and highchair for our baby who took her first steps while we were there. Our last night was spent beside the fire pit in the garden as the sun went down over Loch Ewe. One of our favourite ever stays. Thank you Paula and Alastair for a wonderful holiday.

The most amazing half term week! A beautiful modern house right on Loch Ewe. Super comfy sofas and log burner made it snuggly to gaze through the floor to ceiling windows at the amazing autumnal colour changes across the water as the weather passed through. When it got dark there was WiFi, Netflix and board games. There is a lot of WW2 history due to the Russian Arctic Convoys, hikes, waterfalls, museums, horse riding, beaches with crystal clear sea, pubs with excellent food, cafes for coffee/cake, and the Seafood Shack, Ullapool is award winning.

You cannot fault Bliss Haus, it is perfect for a relaxing, comfortable stay with stunning views and easy access to lots to do in the area. We loved waking up every morning to views over the loch. Paula had prepared a very helpful welcome pack which included where to stop on route to pick up supplies and lots of local places to eat and things to do. We were left to ourselves from then to enjoy this stunning house. It was the space and quiet we were looking for and watching the stars every night was a big plus. We can't wait to go back. You will love staying here.

Bliss Haus is truly amazing. We are a family of 4, holidaying in the Highlands for the first time - Wester Ross is truly spectacular but it was coming home every night to our gorgeous accomodation that really made the holiday special. Paula and Alistair are lovely, friendly hosts and they have really thought of everything to ensure their guests have an amazing holiday. Our city kids loved being able to walk through the garden gate and onto the beach - their morning walks and shell collecting adventures a highlight of their stay. And for us, sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sunset was truly blissful. From the wonderful, local sandy beaches to the abundance of marine wildlife, beautiful botanical gardens and local fascinating museums, there is something for everyone here. We loved it.

What Bliss! We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Bliss Haus. We arrived to a very warm welcome with many thoughtful touches to help us have an amazing stay. Paula and her lovely family offered many local tips and provided useful information, as well as going out of their way to answer questions and let us know of local events (fabulous pizza truck in Poolewe etc) and activities. The accommodation is stunning, and a perfect blend between considerate eco-friendly and plush comfort. The house was spotless and had every convenience to make it a home from home. Local area is gorgeous and there is plenty to do, but it was the peace and beauty we enjoyed most. Highly recommend Bliss Haus to any looking for a super stylish Highland idyll! Just ideal for a family of 4 with both exploration and relaxation equally on the agenda.
