Situated on the marvellous Netherby Estate, and formerly home to the estate’s gamekeeper, Beckside Cottage offers groups of four a peaceful retreat. The cottage has been completely refurbished to provide you with a comfy, homely interior, whilst outside a pair of luxurious alfresco bathtubs offer that little touch of opulence to your stay.
The cosy lounge oozes rural charm, with a log-burning fireplace keeping you toasty and warm whatever the weather outside. Lounge on the big sofa with a glass of wine or pluck a book from the well-stocked bookshelf and lose yourself in a classic novel.
On warm days head out onto your peaceful deck that offers some lovely outdoor seating and relax in the sunshine whilst taking in your surroundings. Then hop into one of the two outdoor bathtubs and enjoy an indulgent soak with a drink in hand as the stars come out above.
Back inside, the stylish kitchen is nicely equipped for hearty meal prep, and the butler sink sits in front of a window so you can gaze out at the view as you wash up. However, there’s also a dishwasher here, so you won’t be lumbered with a huge pile of dishes to clean. The kitchen’s modern appliances make whipping up a feast a breeze, and when it's ready, you can dine alfresco in the summer air or inside at the round dining table that sits next to the bi-fold doors offering a meal with a view.
When night falls, there are two bedrooms on offer here, one of which has a king size bed and the other a pair of single beds. Both rooms offer a peaceful night’s sleep and share access to a modern bathroom that features a big walk-in shower.
The cottage also sits at the end of a track and is located in a private wood that you are welcome to explore. If you venture further afield, there’s plenty to explore in the local area. Fishing fans can head to the River Esk, known for its sea trout in summer and salmon in autumn. For scenic walks, venture to the quieter northern fells of the Lake District National Park.
Discover the region’s rich past at Carlisle Castle and the Tullie House Museum, or follow the historic route of Hadrian’s Wall by foot or bike. Nature lovers will enjoy birdwatching along the Solway Coast, and nearby market towns like Brampton and Penrith offer local charm and delicious produce.
