Bear's Cottage can be found in a truly unique location, yet it is just a short drive from the stunning towns and villages dotted along the beautiful North Norfolk coastline. To make the most of your stay at Bear's Cottage, be sure to bring your walking boots and binoculars and be ready to immerse yourselves in nature, wildlife and total peace and quiet.
You can only reach the cottage via a one mile private driveway, set deep in its own private woodland. Originally built in 1856 as a Woodsman’s house, Bear's Cottage has been lovingly restored to provide a stunning countryside dwelling for visitors to this pretty part of the county.
The restoration work on the cottage has been carefully crafted to ensure that the house has not lost any of its original charm and character. The large open plan kitchen and living areas offer a wealth of modern conveniences, and the interior has been beautifully decorated throughout.
The kitchen is magnificent, with white shaker style cabinets, restored wood flooring, beamed ceilings and full length, bi-fold doors to one side. It also contains every modern convenience you will need during your stay including a range cooker, microwave and large fridge and freezer. There is also a separate utility room.
Dine at the solid wood table that has plenty of room for everyone, or settle down and relax on the sumptuous sofas in the open plan living area. At the front of the house there is a cosy snug with wood burner, where you can relax in the evening and watch TV or catch up with friend over a glass of wine.
For those guests who prefer a little privacy, there is a ground floor twin bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom. With good size single beds, and an ancient working fireplace, sleeping down here will be simply sublime.
Climb the stairs to the first floor and you’ll discover three further bedrooms, two of which have king size beds and wash basins and a children's twin bedroom, as well as a spacious family bathroom with feature freestanding claw-footed bath. All of the bedrooms offer the finest quality linens, and mattresses so comfortable you will struggle to leave them come the morning time.
It is not just the house that is uniquely charming, as the location it sits in really is one in a million. The established woodland which surrounds Bear's Cottage contains historic trees that were planted as far back as the 1850’s and with over 10 miles of private paths and tracks to cycle, ride on or simply explore, you don't have to go far for your next outdoor adventure.
The close-by village of Wood Norton is very well placed for exploring the enchanting beauty of Norfolk. The famous coastal villages of Holt, Wells, Brancaster, Salthouse, Blakeney, Holkham, Burnham Market are all within a 30 minute drive of Bear's Cottage, as are a number of famous Nature Reserves. There are also many Stately Homes and Gardens all within a 15 mile radius of the cottage including Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham, Houghton and Oxborough.
